Why an I blowing so much oil.

Recommended Posts

I have a 421 serval with 35mm air strikers and r2 pipes. I'm running 158 main and 48 pilot and about 500-800ft with 22cc domes running 110 fuel (turbo blue). I thought it was the oil, I was running ams oil dominator now running klotz at 32:1. I'm blowing oil out of every seem, hole, silencer... Everywhere you can think of in the exhaust. When I say a lot I mean a lot. At one point it was a steady drip conning out the rivet in the silencer. I cant seem to figure it out. I know I can seal up all the seems it then it just poors out the silencer even more. Any ideas would be great.

I have same carbs on my set up ...look in my signature. I was pretty oily on the tips of my pipes and heavy smoke. Was using 927 oil @ 40:1. That's when I was jetted in the 150-155 range and 45-50 pilots. Wet plugs too. I switched to klotz ..jetted down ....real close now. I ended up with a 38 pilot and 145 mains. Now the oily mess has cleared up along with my plugs and heavy smoke. I'm at 2400 ft. What I'm getting at is the air stryker carbs like a little leaner jet than normal pwk's from what I've experienced and read. I think you possibly could be real rich on jetting. Although I don't consider myself a pro at all compared to some of the knowledgable senior members....just a suggestion. Hope this helps.

I thought it may have been jetting as well. I was running a 170 main and 50pilot before reading up on the serval and seen that the majority of people seem to be closer to my current jetting. Haven't gotten to do a plug chop on it cause I don't really have anywhere to really open it up. It's real hard to tell by riding it cause it's real hard to bog this motor down. Shit I thought it was running good when I had the 170 mains in it.

I've been having the same problem for sometime now, I can't seem to figure it out! There's no way my jetting is far enough off to cause this though!

I had the problem with my CPI's and also with me Shearers now

I was running Amsoil dominator aswell which I've been running for 10yrs

I was mixing 32.1 and was told for dominator that's to much oil! So I'm gonna mix some fuel at 40.1 and see what happens!

Mine spits out all over my grab bar and makes a dam mess

I run my dominator oil at 50-1

just had the motor apart yestureday to do a duneable trans, everthing in the motor is well oiled with very little to no wear.

Yeah if you read on tge back of the of tge dominator it's supposed to be mixed at 50:1. That's why I stopped running it. That and was told that it's not a very clean burning oil. I can't imagine my jets are that far off, maybe before when they were 170 then maybe but not now.

Well, oil can only come from two places - either from your premix or you're sucking up oil from your trans. If you've done a leakdown and you're good there, it has to be your jetting/mixture.

Jetted correctly, I've never seen a 2 stroke fail to burn oil as a result of a mixture ratio as high as 20:1. Surely some oils are more resistant to combustion than others, but I doubt that's where the problem is.

Moral of story, I'd work on dialing in your pilot until you're able to do some plug chops for the mains.

Something else worth contemplating... things that cause inefficient/incomplete combustion can produce some very confusing symptoms. I recently had a setup that was spitting oil out of the exhaust at the cylinders, but also had bone white plugs. Turns out i had a massive air leak - fixed that and both problems cleared up.

So then do you think it's my jetting? Also could it have something to do with running turbo blue? I know it's not the cleanest stuff atleast compared to like a c12 or something.

I haven't gotten to take a look at it sence the trip but as soon as I do I'm going to do a leak down test to start with. I can't imagin my jetting being that far off. I can understand the air strykers likening a little leaner jetting but what like a size or two. I think I would have to drop like 10 sizes to be able to clear up this oily mess and even them I don't know.
