Powder Coat Cylinders

X2 on quality powder coat. They're about 10 mins from me here so I see a lot of the work from there. Nothing but top notch from chopper frames to my buddies jeep parts. The banshee comes stock with black powder coat, so there is no worries when it comes to coating your cylinders.

No, it should not wear off from heat. If you get say, candy red, there will be a chrome layer, translucent red layer, and possibly a clear coat, which will make it quite a bit hotter than a single stage powder, such as black. Good luck!

i have experimented with candy ( translucent) red in a single stage. with some ingenuity you can do some sweet things with alluminum.

if you just want boring RED you can do a stronger industrial red

How well it holds up to heat will depend on how the surface is prepped and what type of powder you use. I use hi temp powders for exhaust components and haven't had any fade or peeling. I have used standard TGIC polyesters on brake calipers and banshee jugs and they look as good as the day I coated them. Cast aluminum parts should always be preheated to allow oil, air and other contaminants to escape from the metal in preparation for coating.
