hunt3rm008
i just started putting my top end back together after getting my cylinders bored and honed and i was torqueing everything to 20ft lbs and it was all good until i put the head on and one of the bolts on the outside will not torque to 20ft lbs. every single other bolt is perfect except one. it just keeps spinning but is pretty tight. do you guys think i am fine to run it like this? if i do what am i risking? thanks
Surfrjag
so you striped a head stud. take the head back off and put a heilicoil or timesert in that stud hole. they sell heilicoil kits at autozone for 30 bucks and i have used it many times with no problems. make sure you keep the metal shavings out of the cylinder and the water jacket. might even take that cylinder off to do it. or you could take that cylinder to a machine shop and let them do it. sheerider11
Your risking about 600 dollars. Not really, but you know it's a problem. Fix it. If that's the way you want to take care of your banshee then don't come on here every month asking how to band aid it back together. Its a easy fix luckily, there is no just leaving it and risking anything.
Surfrjag
On 2ndthe thought make sure its not just the nut before you fix the stud. Hopefully your reading both your posts!!! Lol
hunt3rm008
the stud going into the cylinder does not move, the part that moves is the nut on the top of the studs threads. the threads on the top of the stud are stripped. fastbanshee8
Replace the stud, and nut. It's that simple.
