Most of the people who get together for these rides are not hardcore drag racers. Most of the guys that come to the LS Ride do a little tuning and a lot of riding. It's just not nearly as serious here as it is there. Sure, everyone wants their bikes to run the best they can, but it does not make or break the whole trip for them if they don't. I honestly think you northwest guys scare a lot of casual Banshee riders off because of the competitive nature of the racing scene. I'm not saying that being competitive is bad, I just think for a lot of the guys on this website especially, it's not everything.

Tyler I do not agree that the Northwest guys scare people off. We really are not that serious it just sounds that way on here lol. If we do go to really race it is just a good time. Yes people will wrench on bikes and try to get better times out of them but it is always a big group of guys standing around and shooting the shit while one guys messes with his bike. Believe me we know how to have a good time a ride the shit out of our machines. Hell I will go through 15 to 20 gallons of gas in my bike alone on a normal weekend.

Wrenching sucks when all you wanna do is ride , I'll come and hang out with my Bike and have fun no matter what . Best time in the world is hanging at the dunes , sitting around the fire and daring each other to do stupid shit. Just there for good times , even if it does fuckin rain Lolz !!!!!

Brian, the way some of the northwest guys talk in the Shoutbox is more than enough to make most people think if they don't show up to win races then they shouldn't bother. There have been many references about the 2011 BansheeHQ Ride at Little Sahara and about how the "local guys" were getting whooped on or whatever. The thing is the "local guys" at LS just flat out don't care. Many of the northwest guys said that's just plain stupid and if you aren't showing up to tune and make your bike run as hard as it can then it's even more stupid.

I really don't give a shit one way or the other. I organize a big ride every year and it's a huge turnout. I think the crowds are just different and so are the attitudes. I am not saying it's bad, but it's been clearly shown that there is more of a competitive nature on the west coast. As far as I am concerned, if sand draggers want to be competitive they should go to the track and not worry so much about the dunes. There are far too many variables in the dunes to always determine a clear "winner" all the time.

If I commit to something I commit to it and not back out . I can say this year LS is out for me , but October 2013 is a long way off and I can plan for that . Getting together with the troops would be awesome . If I don't have a toy hauler by then I may just rent a fuck a tent and go in comfort ...

It's been a long time coming , I will make my next trip to Riley . I'm glad they got everything sorted out and got the access bridge built . I love Florence but shit , there is really only driftwood , there is other camps but they don't allow atv's and they have nice dune access .

Dunefest this year and I'll have to do a late summer trip to coos bay as well .

Thanks for the info bro

RE: Oregon HQ Wang Ride

All of these, "we need more time" comments are weak. About 2 months isn't enough time? Do people really plan dune trips that far in advance. I will probably go riding 3 times before then and I am 4hrs away. I have not decided when. Usually we just decide we want to go and go .

Riley Ranch is really nice. When they get the rest of the bathrooms finished it will be even better. We have only camped there once but we will camp there again it is a nice gamp ground and good spot to come out on the sand at.

Florence has several camp grounds we camp at Odd Fellows which is the nicest one but it is a members only spot so that does kind of suck. I am hoping to make the ride but with taking the first week of the month off for Dune Fest just not sure if I can swing it. LOL But hell I am one of the ones that always shows up.

sandmanpnw- weren't you bitching about the turnout to the rides in Oregon?? If you expect people to travel from all over I'm sure people would need some notice in advance, not everyone lives 4 hours away and just pack up their pickup for the weekend.

Tyler- Dont get the Californians mixed up with the rest of the west coast, not all of us are so serious about the whole drag racing thing. My bike is more of a duner for a reason and thats because I like to actually get out and ride not strictly just drag race. Although, it is fun to run what you brung and work your way to some bragging rights with your buddies, but all in all its about having a good ol time whether your hanging out, riding, drinking or whatever. I wish I had the funds to make it to this years ride in LS but theres no way thats happenin, id like to meet some of you guys as you seem preetty down to earth
