Oregon HQ Ride

Recommended Posts

Best idea EVER! Leave the slow idiot eastern people on their side of the country and us fast western people will stay on ours. Problem solved and we don't have to deal with the knuckle heads!

When you say "us" do you mean your friends? Do you even own a Banshee?

The problem here is that you guys are too serious. We just like to kick it and have fun and race a little. There is no serious shit going on at LS.

When it becomes like a job, it takes the fun out of it.

A banshee, no. A bucket of bolts and billet bullshit with a few banshee parts in it, yes....... HOWEVER I am still 1 out of 2 on attending HQ rides here in the land of the fast. And as things stand right now it looks like I will be 2 for 3.. And yes many of us take it serious. You should too. If you go to LS for the "ride" everyone knows that the races are the big event and sets the stage and bragging rights for the winter. If you show up don't wrench/tune on your junk to make the best showing possible then you have wasted your money... EXAMPLE is last year. Many people showed up to by rights race and the person whom according to many people did the most wrenching and working on their junk ended up being the one that many on this website refered to as "the one to beat that weekend" I am of the opinion that if you leave tired but have that title it was a good weekend. Its also my opinion that if you (meaning anyone) pays THOUSANDS of dollars to build or buy these things than its is absolutely retarded not to tune them to run to potential each time out. But I know nothing, I dont own a banchee, and I have never been around ATV's....

Might work better if you try to plan it a ways out, that way if people from farther away want to come they have time to plan or save up money. If u did it next year I would come for sure.

That's why I set the dates for the LS Ride in January. That leaves plenty of time for everyone to get off work and such.

Most of the people who get together for these rides are not hardcore drag racers. Most of the guys that come to the LS Ride do a little tuning and a lot of riding. It's just not nearly as serious here as it is there. Sure, everyone wants their bikes to run the best they can, but it does not make or break the whole trip for them if they don't. I honestly think you northwest guys scare a lot of casual Banshee riders off because of the competitive nature of the racing scene. I'm not saying that being competitive is bad, I just think for a lot of the guys on this website especially, it's not everything.

Im with Tyler on the date thing... I think setting the dates to a big ride/race WAY in advance is a big part of the turn out!!! In past years of "big" racing we knew months in advance when/where the event was going to be and that really helped the attendance IMO... Im really not sure if its any more serious out here than it is back there. The MI boys have somewhat of the same seasons as we do but some of the seriousness out here stems from the fact that we have about a 3/4 month window to run in fair/good conditions and then its back to a good chance of poor weather so for the guys that have invested the 1000's into the sport/hobby there are few chances to justify the heap that you just built. Again, this is just my opinions and I know nothing.

Easy. dont throw the whole northwest into what is a very small group of people that care that much. Most of us want to run the piss out of the shit we pay thousands for, racing is fun win or lose, sure winning is always cool :) but outlaw racing up hills or flats is just fun.....

When I go to the dunes.. The last thing I want to do is turn wrenches. If a bike is seriously out of tune and running like garbage.. I'll spend a lil time and try to get it back close but I wont waste the day at it.. But if a bike is running ok. I usually wont touch it and just ride. I wont make 3 passes come back and tune to squeeze a extra bike or 2 out of it. I'd rather spend that time bullshitting with my friends and hanging out. I can't speak for everyone here.. but I think thats how most of our crew is.. racing is just a bonus. We dont care who is fast or who isn't.. We talk banshee's.. talk about setups and what we're gonna try. We'll go home.. make some changes and hope we're faster next time out. I have also noticed that there is a difference between Dune racers and Track racers. By track I mean lights/timers. Track racers are far more serious and competitive. When the track racers go to the dunes.. they bring that nature with them.

For the LS ride.. I made a bunch of changes and headed to LS with no tuning. Got there.. made 3 passes. Burnt one strap off and collapsed the other. Put some fresh plugs in and limped it back to camp. it was lean. I had it jetted in perfect before my changes. I had .113 mains so i drilled some new jets to 123 and it ran good (15min fix). Spraying fuel EVERYWHERE. Obviously it was past rich. But.. it was running good enough for me to have fun. Never touched it again for the trip. IMO riding/racing is just something to do while I socialize. Maybe thats why we dont have all the big builds over here that there is out west.. we dont need to have a 15k motor to have fun and visit with friends.
