possum
I have a 350 dune port with T5's. Now i want a lil more top without loosing the bottom-mid torque of the T5's. Just wondering if anyone has experiance going from T5's to shearers on a dune port. And what was there findings? And i want to keep the durations where they are. decon
Ever considered Cpi's? Might be that happy medium your looking for...

RadarRacing
IMO. Shearers should beat T5s everywhere on a dune port. Torque, hp and the entire curve will be better. If you overlay a dyno graph of the two pipes the line on the shearers will be higher than the toomeys all the way thru the graph.
possum
Thats what i was thinkin radar. But would they come on later? Or close to same because of the mild duration? Edited May 30, 2012 by possum

Or close to same because of the mild duration? They don't come on later......they come on harder for longer. You won't loose bottom end....the top end will just be SO MUCH stronger, that you'll think the pipe is all top end....but it will only be because your motor never pulled so hard. Your low end power will still be there and still be just as strong. Depending on your compression...your motor might like CPI's better if the compressions way up there.......but if your not making more than about 165psi kicking....I'd go with the Shearers. possum
Gonna be at 140-150 psi kicking.
special06shee
i have a dune/play port!! i have t5s on it and it pulls very hard everywhere!! i just bought shearers thinking that it would pull even better!! well that was a 700.00 mistake!! sure the shearers pull harder on the big end.. but i lost so much bottom end and a big part of mid range!! i put the t5s back on!! i was not willing to sacrifice so much bottom and mid range for the better top end!! now im not saying that shearers are a bad pipe or that they wont work for you.. but they just did not agree with my set up or riding style!! possum
Whats the rest of your setup? Did u change anything else while switching to shearers?
special06shee
Whats the rest of your setup? Did u change anything else while switching to shearers? Dune/play port with boost ports, case port, staight cuts,22cc domes(157 each cyl.),pwk35s,+4 timing,6"pods,t5's,vforce3 I have been running this set up for a little while now.. i did not change anything when i tried the shearers other then a little jetting! Like i said before..im not claiming they wont work on your bike or that they are not a great pipe! Its just that my motor did not perform worth a shit with them, other then the top end!!! And no its not that they pulled soo much harder on the top end that it made the bottom and mid feel weak!!
mike0chek
the shearers def come on later than anyother pipe ive tried, but i like the top end powerband better
252wheelieking
With my HJR dune port switching from t-5's to shearers was about the same in bottomend & the mid to top pulled harder with the shearers....just my .
decon
I can't see how you guys keep saying you won't lose bottom end switching from t5's to shearer's. I've tried shearer's & cpi's on very similar dune ported motors and the cpi had a better low end and midrange. I'm speaking from personal experience, not by looking at a dyno chart...
