does anyone have any experience with this?

Hmm.. So can you lock the thumb if you want to use twist and lock the twist if you want to use thumb? Sorry I have never used one, interesting idea, Terry Cable usually makes good shit though.. I run a twist, always have, probably always will.

I just don't want to part with the twist, but there are definitely times where I would rather have a thumb throttle. I was thinking the same thing about terry cables. They usually make good stuff. I may have to be the guinea pig and try it out and report back to HQ.

I have the Moose version. In the pics, it looks identical to the Terrycable one. I don't know if one copied the other or if they're made at the same facility. The thing I noticed when I bought mine is that the Moose ones are always about the same price. The Terrycable one varies in price and is cheaper. I chose the Moose one for the higher price and possibly better quality. Here's the Moose one.

Overall, I like it a lot. It's a very well made piece. It uses a standard thumb throttle cable. The thumb lever is always usable. The twist can be locked with a pin. It's kind of hard to lock or unlock the pin while riding with gloves on. The twist is pretty fast and can get you into trouble in tight technical stuff with trees and trails. With the twist unlocked, you can still use the thumb easily with minimal danger of twisting the throttle unintentionally. I prefer to lock the twist when I'm doing technical stuff and unlock it when I'm cruising the sand highway, hill climbing and racing. The nice thing too is that you can lock the twist when you let someone else ride it.

I have the Terry Cable and love it for how I use it... I use the twist throttle for everything except for the really tight & off camber stuff that you really need to hang onto the bike with your hands as well as your legs. I have let a couple other guys ride it and they wanted the twist throttle locked out, and all of them complained about the same thing... The thumb lever is too far away from the grip (both inward on the bars, and too far back from the grip).

Also for those of you that have it and have noticed that little bit of slop in the twist part, a buddy of mine came up with a solution to that...

Thanks for all the feedback guys. After reading about the thumb throttle placement, I ,at just go with a stock thumb throttle and get the cascade thumb extender. I'll keep my twist with me and I can switch it fairly quickly if I really want to.

I've seen those before but keep forgetting about them. That would even be cool on a bike for 2 wheel challenged folks like myself. Might be cool for drag racing my banshee too. Pullin 2 39s with a thumb sucks.
