Best oil for the trans.

Recommended Posts

Not all the way up. To the line on the stick. But check it by dropping the dipstick into the whole and pull it up and look at it. Get it to the line. It takes about 1.5 quarts.

ATF. 1.5 quarts on a stock side-cover and 2 quarts on a lockup modded cover. No need to measure on the stupid little stick. Just do 1.5 quarts if you have a stock side-cover and 2 if you have the lockup cover and you're good to go.

Jared uses Extra Virgin as I remember!

When your using a lockup and you add 2 qt. How far up the window does it go? I see many folks that have oil halfway, 1/4 way and barely touching the lockup. What is correct?

i trash atf in a few hours at the dunes..

i MUCH rather have castrol 4T 10-40 or 20-50

OR run hondaline engine oil for wet clutch.

the other oils last 2 times as long and i can usually tell if a trans was ran on atf. they are usually a lil more "burned up"

x2 ya get past the 10 bucks a quart price tag its not so bad. But i love the stuff.

X3, the BEST stuff I have ever seen for a 2 stroke tranny! I have tried motor oil, ATF, Hondaline tranny, and BelRay tranny oil before I ended up with Klotz Flex Drive 30. My bike shifts the best with it, and every time I have split the cases it looks like brand new inside. I have never had a problem with the clutch, shift forks, gears, bearings or the pushrod ball in 7 different Banshees and 2 Blasters over the last 18+ years. Guys that are running ATF are welding clutch pushrods/balls unless they have a pancake bearing. I have never lost one, even on the girls bike that she loves to coast down hills with the clutch pulled in.

I might have to try it too. I've tried loads of different oils and always came back to atf. Less creep, clutch lasts longer, bike shifts the best for me. Haven't tried the klotz yet though. I also run 2 full quarts to keep the ball and pushrod oiled. Been this way for years now.
