both bikes .040 over 4mil with domes cut 4 me by noss 4 pavement, both bikes have modified trapizoid ex port ans wsm race cut pistons

Right on, so basically an asphalt drag racing 385.

I'm building a 385 MX Hardcore HJR Motor for mashing the Dunes.

I have T5's now but I'd rather get the cylinders ported for Snipers than some old school T5's.

And a 421 Twister will be the motor I go to once I out grow the 385.

Do you feel the Snipers would accentuate a 4 mil 385 MX Port?

Why are you building a motor now just to outgrow? I would save the money and skip straight to the 421 Twister.

I would give Gary a call and see what he thinks about his pipes on that motor. I think the bike in Passion's signature has a Twister motor in it.

I here what you're saying, but I'm coming from stock motor power levels to a 4 mil 385 that will damn near double the power.

I will call Gary and Kevin both and see what they say.

Paying for the 4 mil crank now and running ported stock cylinders is about $1200 with two pair of domes for sea level, (Pismo) and 4500ft, (Sand Mountain, NV).

I think the HJR 4 mil 385 MX Port will be more than enough to handle right now.

I have had entirely too many motors over the last 10 years. I wish way back I had not bothered with the smaller motors and saved myself thousands of dollars. You would be a ton of money ahead to skip the 385 and go straight for the 421, even if you have to ease into riding it. You will ride that 385 for a month and be itching for more power, trust me.

I know you're giving me good advice, and I appreciate it, but right now financially the 385 seems more affordable.

A 421 Twister is about double the price of the 385 and that doesn't include the purchase of the Snipers.

Plus I still need to buy a +4 gusseted swingarm, having Matt dial in the rear shock, Fireball A-Arms and Elka's, Custom Axis or Race Tech Shocks.
