Uf21
Hi, I installed DMC 916s on my shee. What size jet would I need? I ride in the mountains in Australia at between 3400ft to 4000ft and the weather is usually between 10C (50F) - 20C (68F). I have a stock airbox closed lid (thinking about drilling holes in it) and will be soon getting the Pro Design Pro-Flow foam air filter. Do I only change main jet or others also? DMC has jett specs in the installation instructions. They say 30 pilot 280 main. this amy be to much fuel for you at that elevation though. bluebanshee98
i would take the lid off competely. dont worry you shee will be ok.i think for every 2000 ft you should go down a size in jets if im not mistaken so maybe 260-270 with lid off. best bet would be throw a 280 and plug chop and lean down the jets to your needs. dont go to lean! moledigger
That's why I asked in here. DMCs jetting specs aren't for everyone. I would start with the 280 and do a plug chop. Post some pics and go from there. They should look like this. Its a 350 Dune/play port by FAST, with DMC 916s ,stock carbs, pro design foam filter, and VF3 reeds. This pic is a 310 main. Uf21
I can't do plug chops because I live near the city and there's no place nearby to take it for a ride to do a plug chop. Also I can't keep lid off because I ride on trails and fire trails and there's always puddles so water will get in. Is there anyway of doing it without a plug chop? Larry's Shee
Do everything for a plug chop and either cut the plug when you get home, or look closely at plug with magnifying glass. Or just make sure you're on the rich side, long as it's not blubbering or fouling. You should figure out what you want to do with your air box so you only have to jet once. You could get an outerware for your filter or get some of this http://www.parts-unlimited.com/products/?lfr=product%2F89272 and modify your lid with it. JMHO, your results may, and will vary

Is there anyway of doing it without a plug chop? how big of puddles are we talking here? if you think about it the lid of the air box is basically covered by the rear fender. i never had a issue with my lid off when i ran my stock air box. dont worry it has side walls and a bottom you should be good. unless your really riding in water thats like up to the engine or flying into huge water pits. more air+ more fuel = more power. to each his own though i guess

Im only going off what I've been reading on here. A lot of people say don't take off lid if riding in areas with a lot of puddles/water. jtbhq420
I ran these pipes with a 280 on a stock motor at about 2000 ft at about the same temps but I had reeds at that time I bet 270 would be about perfect maybe slightly rich but safe
Larry's Shee
What I was getting at was you could check your plugs out at your ride spot without actually cutting them.
