DDShee
so i bought my banshee as a project for $1200 the kid said it needed a stator so i went for it. Well i got the new stator, and it runs, like shit. lol But i got it to run decent enough to take for a ride, so i took it out. But around one of the head studs, its leaking coolant. So thats probably why its running like hell. But i noticed that its dripping gas out of the vent line from the bottom of the carb, only when running also. Just for a background it has some no name pipes, and what look like FMF powercore I's, adj timing plate, trinity stage IV single carb kit, v force (3?) reeds, and a pro design cool head with 20cc domes. If anyone has any advice on what i should do next PLEASE speak up.

For the mean-time the fuel coming out the line is from improper float height or your needle valve isn't closing properly. yank the carb and tear it all apart and clean the shit out of it. I would also yank the head and replace your o-rings. Both are easy jobs. Next thing would be to get it jetted right. the poor performance is probably due to crappy jetting on top of your other issues. make sure your timing plate is set at +4 for starters. Jared good info there. what is the 2-1 setups good for? also while on the 2-1 subject how are those pipes?
DirtDiggler69
good info there. what is the 2-1 setups good for? also while on the 2-1 subject how are those pipes? I run a 2-1 Intake with a 33 pwk , and I love it . Simple to maintain . Yeah you sacrifice top end , but I ride the Dunes and Trails and it suffers no where . If I were you I'd keep the 2-1 . I also have a Motofast 2-1 pipe , and It's perfect for where I ride , it has a nice low to mid range powerband , It falls off on the top end a bit , but I like that low to mid range power , makes it kinda 4 strokey , more predictable I guess you could say. toytech
single carb and single pipe belong on a blaster, banshees are meant for 2 hence the twin cyls. two carbs are easy to tune, just do some researce on here, sync is importent. Burt Reynolds
If you have used a 1:2 carb kit and lost a lot of power, your doing it wrong. 2-4 more hp bottom end,2-4 less on top on the same port/pipe setup. It is a trail mod,not a drag/top end mod. Edited May 7, 2012 by Burt Reynolds
Larry's Shee
Yamaha has been doing it right for a long time 2s, 2cyl, 2 carbs. Other than some half ass old ass snomobile, show proof of multi cyl 2s with single carbs. I'll go 5:1 on ANYTHING you can find
Burt Reynolds
Here are the charts from a crank dyno, not rear wheel. Shows gains in the low,and losses in the high, just like any trail mod or low end mod will do. Im not saying that a single carb will make your banshee lay golden eggs,im saying there are enough benefits to single that some of us trail guys prefer it. yamahaty
Just throwing my 10 cents in, my buddy had a dirtbike doing the same thing and it was just the head gasket.

Race teams spend millions to get the Carb as close to the valve/cylinder as they can. Maybe there's something to it!

Well then i guess we should stick to the stock a arms/swinger/shocks/pipe/head/porting/colors/tires wheels chain ect... because if yamaha has been doing it that way since the dark ages they must be perfect for everyone in stock form. Ill pay pal anyone 20 bucks if they can tell me any serious drawbacks to having a single carb on a TRAIL bike,as a TRAIL mod.
