So i was wondering if those of you with porting done or those of you that are porting gurus could post pics up of the different types of porting and what that particular port job is most useful in? Thanks! Damn theres a lot to read here lol Check out Ken OConnor's videos on YouTube.
MyNameIsMud
Check out Ken OConnor's videos on YouTube. Im not looking to port them my self. So hjr is a top porter here? Im going to call a few this week whats the going rate on a set of the agressive trail porting? From what ive read here that seems to fit the majority of riding we do. MyNameIsMud
I read on here that stock carbs will support 60hp but with my mods consisting of T5's,k&n,boysen reeds, say i do go with the agressive trail port will i be exceeding that 60hp?At what level of mods do the stock carbs become the bottle neck in performance? I forgot ill be adding an aftermarket head and whatever domes the builder recommends. Edited April 30, 2012 by MyNameIsMud

But if ur not goin for max acceleration, carbs really wont matter. Kevin at hjr has taught me alot about motors and then my own trial and error. If u want to know about how ur motor works and responds to changes and why, like i do. Just ask kev. I never just take a builders word for what they think is best for me. I ned to know the difference.
AxesOfEvil_96
i went with HerrJugsRacing for my Agressive Trail Port. Kevin is a great guy to deal with and does amazing work. Got me a arm ripping midrange for a stock cylinder set up. Very happy with it. Edited April 30, 2012 by AxesOfEvil_96
Wildcard2
ive been a member a short time but while reading how to improve my banshee i keep seeing recommendations for porting. So then i searched porting and wow!Theres alot of types and info a little confusing for a newb. So i was wondering if those of you with porting done or those of you that are porting gurus could post pics up of the different types of porting and what that particular port job is most useful in? Thanks! Damn theres a lot to read here lol There is a lot of info and it can be very hard to find and to sort out. When it comes to porting there are many factors to concider and many things that will play into end results. As a few mentioned pics of portwork won''t do you any good. What type of riding do you plan on doing with your bike? Also what is already done to the bike? What kind of budget are you working with? These things will get you pointed in a right direction for the type of porting that you will want. That makes sense and is also what i was afraid of. So how do you tell by glance what you have if you buy say a used set? I wouldnt want to get buffaloed into some garbage no knowing what i was looking at. If you are looking into a used set of ported cylinders the best way to know what your getting is to ask the seller alot of questions, what were they ported for? Who did the portwork? This way you can call the porter and see what they would recommend as far as the supporting mods, what they were set up for, and would they be what you are looking for.
