Nightmare
I want to paint the rims on my beater. Any info on where to start with the sanding process. Im not expecting stellar results, like i said its just a beater.
amstall
If you want to do it the easy way take a deck of cards and stab them between the tire and the wheel, all the way around. It's way easier than taping.
Nightmare
I already pulled the old tires off and figured i would change them up a bit. All i really need to know is what grit of sand paper to start and finish with. Thats not a bad idea with the deck of cards when they need a touch up
sheerider11
A red scuff pad.
rjdgriff
A red scuff pad. Yup scotch bright works wonders. It should scuff it up plenty. If you don't feel it is enough then use some 600 grit paper. But a good pad is all u should need. Orileys sells good scuff pads tho

special06shee
when i painted my old wheels that already had been painted by previous owner i used brake fluid that i put in a spray bottle and sprayed them up really well..left it soak for couple hours and most of the paint peeled off..whatever was left i used a red pad on. just make sure if you do this you get all of the brake fluid off before you repaint!! Paulie B
I've used the card trick and it's a good way to go because most likely you will wreak the paint putting the tires back on.
