eldreder
Ok how do you guys get your ball joints out of the steering knuckle ? Im having a hell of a time
SAVAGE420
Lube them up with penetrating oil, and let sit for a while. Then give it a good couple whacks with a hammer while pushing down on the tie-rod ends. There is probably some rust in there. If you are just putting new tie rods on, there is no need to take both the tie-rod ends out of the steering stem. Just thread new tie rods on and your golden. FYI! eldreder
well made some more progress after all, thought this would do the trick: then this happened: so then i found this at work: it seemed to work alright, not the perfect tool for the job, but none the less looks like i might need some new brake pads: here it is with everything off: here's some of the old junk: here's a real good one, if you can't tell, the ball joint popped out, so i had a washer welded over it to hold it in, seems pretty safe more parts: that's all for now, hopefully some re-assembly pics tomorrow

dave5.0
Damn nice parts. Get some pics of that stuff on the bike. Usually the tie rods and ballpoints will pop right out with a couple wacks of a bfh. Don't hit the actual tie rod you hit the side of the knuckle where the tapered shaft goes through it. Usually pop out after that. I never have used a puller or fork to remove them. Cars or quads.
eldreder
Thanks guys, I was able to get the tie rod ends out with the puller, but i ended up just using a hammer on the ball joints. Also I posted the pics correctly right? You guys can see them without having to click the links ?

eldreder
What size are those Js? What did they cost and how long to get them? My son missed out on some Js on Egay recently The j's are +2 +1 and I paid around 500 for them and it took about 6 weeks to get them, but it woulda been like 5 weeks had they not had an issue with powder coat. It was definitely worth the wait though these are awesome !
eldreder
Yeah lol I thought for $5 dollars I might as well give it a shot, but I barely put any tension on it before it bent

eldreder
Got the arms set in nothing is tightened or adjusted. And I need to get new castle nuts for the tie rod ends since my new ones didn't come with new nuts. But a little progress is better than none
CFH87
Nice swinger looks similar to mine lol http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/529266_443329275693101_100000480982771_85889304_1720484310_n.jpg
eldreder
Well more setbacks of course. I got new castle nuts for the tie rod ends, and not only were they $4.19 each, but they were too tall, so I had to sand them down to make them fit. Here's some pics
