itsasheething
ok guys i just got my 1st shee its a 98 on stock bore. took it out over the weekend seemed to do alright just a lil doggish in the low end. i do know they are not low end bikes. it wont idle and almost have rev it up to much to take off. so after looking around and not really finding my anwser i come to ya'll for help, its on its stock bore has fmf gold series pipes and k/n filter. i decided to check the jets only to find that it has a 160 main and 25 pilot jets i know this cant be right. i live in indiana, ride at see level, and ride in 70 to 90 degree weather. today i ordered a ajustable stator plate to +4 timing and dont plan on doing any ather mods at this time. what jets do i need to go with on this bike thanks
06bluebanshee
I would try 27.5 pilots and 300 mains. take off the air box lid and buy a k&n clamp on filter. air screw 1.5 turns out and needle in the 3rd clip. Good Luck
T_Shee
Wow that is leaner than factory on the mains. Definitely wanna get it fixed before riding anymore. Where u live? I'm 20 min south of indianapolis

booxzzy
gotta be honest guys i thought there would be alot more help on this forum than what i have been told thanks to you that have put your two cents in on helping out i run 280 mains as well and it seems like im a little bit rich but its better to be rich than lean you should take your carbs of and clean them well
ticktock
woe is me! Well I would say something smart and point you to the pinned thread that is located at the top of the jetting forum, recommend that you find a set up like yours and go from there.. stock carbs, pipes, 25-27.5 pilots, with 280 mains. Screw your 50/50 mix of race fuel, unless you have a cool head with higher compression you are pissing money away. Airbox? Lid or no lid? no lid requires more fuel. So it wont idle, are the carbs synced. Did you sync them with a vacuum tool? Did you do it as yamaha has in the manual using the window? Carb Sync: Use a tool, they are 30 bucks on ebay or 55 from FAST. Click me to Purchase a carb tool!! First set idle, making sure that both carbs are pulling about 5 on the vacuum scale. Next take the cover off the throttle box, and put something to open the throttle. You dont want the bike to run away such as wide open, it just needs to open the slides a sliver off idle. adjust until it pulls same vacuum with both carbs. Adjust your Air screws. I adjust the air screw to where the bike revs up, then dies off, then I put it back to the peak and just adjust the right side air screw to the same as the left. If your carbs are clean, and sync'd and you have no air leaks it will idle. Good luck, Adam
Larry's Shee
gotta be honest guys i thought there would be alot more help on this forum than what i have been told thanks to you that have put your two cents in on helping out What more do you want? EXACT jetting? That's impossible, every bike is different, even two "identical" quads sitting next to each other might need different settings. There is more than enough info given for starting point. One thing I see wrong with your set-up is your choice of fuel. Unless you have mods you haven't disclosed, you're wasting money and probably loosing power with 50/50 fuel mix. JMHO, your results may, and will vary
shakar
many moons ago when i ran fattys with pods, at 1k above s.l . if i remember correctly 310 main and 27 1/2 pilot but i also had 28mm mukuni flats, but that should be close .i agee with the other members.. if you dont have comp above 155 lbs or so jus use straight up 93oct .this will be more then enough. also how much premix to run will be decided by witch premix oil you choose to use. some oils say 100 to 1 some say 32 to 1.jus depend on the make up of each oil. goodluck Edited April 26, 2012 by shakar
