Hosed499
I know banshees are gas guzzlers dont get me wrong! But im going through 3 gals in a little over an hour? I just got a fuel leak fixed i thought that was the problem but i was wrong still the same fuel consumption. My quad really isnt that hopped up its got fmf pipes and jetted to 220 so nothing all that fancy. I think i should be getting about 2.5 hours out of a tank if im correct. Any ideas anyone? And if it helps at all if i get it warm it doesnt want to idle.
Zwiser
Yeah there's something wrong there, A tank of gas lasts me awhile I don't know the time but I know its more than 2.5 hours, and I have Pwk 28s, 160 psi of compression, toomey t4s, and a kn filter. Im also jetted spot on though
Hosed499
Well i dont think my jetting is off either. Stock the jetting is 200 and mines only at 220 and that was for the pipes and kn filter.
sheerider11
Check your jetting, where do you ride? One place by me is a trail prob 40 ft wide and a few miles long. Pretty flat. Gas doesn't last long down that trail. I'm ported and 4 mil tho.
bluebanshee98
you have stock carbs correct? if so take that lid off the air box and throw some 280 main jets in. whats your elevation? if its close to 1000ft above sea level. 280s will be perfect with that set up. ( fmf, k&n filter and lid off) i had the same set up before i went 4 mil. it will def make the bike perform alot better since it will be dialed in right. as for the hr tank of gas something might be wrong... do take into consideration that when your wide open throttle all the time these kind of bikes cug the gas. are you sure it was under a hr for a whole tank of gas including reserve? Hosed499
Im about 150 ft above sea level. I live in the heart of florida where its 75 during winter and 109 during summer lol! Yes i was ridin back on fumes in a little over an hour and it was trail ridin so it wasnt a constant WOT. So you think i might be small on jetting? It doesnt run bad? It actully runs like a raped date! I just want to know why my shit uses so much damn fuel LOL i wonder if carbs are running to rich maybe? Hosed499
And no they are not stock carbs. They are the ones with caps and cables on top
Zwiser
You can put regular carb tops and cables on stock carbs...
Hosed499
Then they are most likely stock!
zach45
You rape dates alot?
Hosed499
Idk maybe? Whats it to ya?
bluebanshee98
lol. ok so you have stock carbs with the tors tops removed. i would go with 270 mains and make sure you take that damn lid off and let her breath! this should get you very close if not dead on for jetting. do a plug chop ( where you actually saw the threads off on the plug to get the reading) to get 100% conformation though. it will def be alot better then the 220 thats in there now. you know how to do a plug chop correctly right? search function is your friend
Hosed499
Ya bud i can do a plug chop! But wouldnt increasing the jet size make it use more fuel?
06bluebanshee
Gas could be pouring out of the overflow hoses while your riding. Floats could not be set right or dirty needle and seat.
Hosed499
Well i just got it back from the shop! They supposidly rebuilt the entire carb and tuned them? But it looks like im gonna have to take it to a yamaha dealer to make sure its tuned right. Cause my bike still doesnt idle right and eats fuel like its candy
