Ported HJR Motor What Carbs?

I think I'm gonna send my stockers out to Ron Black for his carb mods.

If the 35's don't sell, I'll definitely try them out.

 

I wish Keihin made 31mm PWK's.

has anyone sent there stockers to ron black for carb mods? if so please give the results. looks interesting. any feedback would be appreciated

If kevin said its hard to make better than stocker carbs, why not run them. Bigger carb dont mean faster bike, you made a mx hardcore port so your willing low and mid power, exactly what your gonna lose with fat carb. My juggs are right now on kevin herr desk to be mx hardcore ported, ill run for sure to stock carb with t5, +4, mull engineering fast burn head. I say sell the 35 and run stocker! ;)

I got Kevin's mx hardcore port. I had 34 pj's and Im waiting on 35 pwk. My bike ripped with the 34s when I could get them tuned right. The only reason I went to pwk is because I hated the pj carbs. Terrible to tune with. But my bike fucking flew.

Also, I wish I went with the dune/play port. I feel like I could get a little more out of it.

I asked Kevin about the Dune/Play port and he suggested the MX Hardcore Port due to my weight, terrain and riding style.

 

I don't go to the dunes to drag race.

I ride the dunes and ride them hard.

With t5's and 28 pwks you'll love it imo... I run 33pwks and shearer pipes and power comes on a slower but once it hits the pipe your gone lol. With the set up I told you to get it'll come on way faster. But I like to fly through the woods and dunes. Your gunna love what ever kevin does to your motor he does killer work.

I appreciate you suggestions, and I would ick up a set of 28mm PWK's if I only had the 35's, but since I have pristine stockers I'm gonna rock those.

 

If the 35's don't sell by the time I biulod this motor, I will definitely try them out and report back to this thread.

 

Kevin said the stockers are pretty tough to beat.

 

He said the Port work, the T5's and the stock carbs will all begin to sign off around the same rpm.

 

He said it's a very well matched set-up.

 

Now, what about intakes and reeds?

 

I was thinking about sending my stock reed cages off to Wildcard Racing for them to do their cage porting and install 2-Stage Boysen Reeds for $50.

 

Or should I rock the VF3's that I got for X-Mas with a set of Chariot Billet Intakes and never look back?

I'm about 170. But like stated, no matter what port job you'll be happy. Also go with the new reeds. No matter what kind of port work you get you'll notice a hell of a difference n
