Stroking Question?

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping you guys can help me out and I want all the input I can get on this. I currently have a Stock Stroke Serval Cub with just about every bolt on performance Part made for a Banshee. I'm running a Hot Rod's Trued and Forged Stock Stroke Crank Shaft with Trinity's Exclusive Pro-Lite 68mm Cub Pistons. I made mistake when I bought a stock stroke crank back a few years ago when I put a new bottom end in it and I don't want to make the same mistake so I want to go as big as possible

. I plan on doing this around November of this year. What would I need to buy in order to go 10mm/64mm Stoke? I'm assuming I would need to buy a new Bottom end Pivot Work's Bearing Kit, a New Trinity Exclusive Pro-Lite Piston Top End Kit (Pistons with the proper Wrist Pin Placement for the 64mm Stroke), New Gaskets (Top and Bottom End), and pretty much everything else you buy when you rebuild the complete engine.

I need to know the answers to these question's:

Will I need Aftermarket Mattoon Billet Cases in order to run the +10mm/64mm Stroker Crank?

Will I need to get my buddies at Qualex Machine to cut me a Cylinder Base Spacer out of Billet Aluminum that matches the Serval Cylinder Lay Out?

Is there any Disadvantages to running a Stroker Crank VS a Stock Stroke Crank?

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. :notworthy:

Well, since LMS have a 10mil serval and mine is in pieces here is what I can tell you. You are going to need a 10mil crank. You can get a reworked forged crank with Hotrods rods, good bearings and new for a good price at Wildcard racing. Talk to Brandon. He can hook you up.

You will need a new serval cylinder or mayb a spacer plate but that's a lot of power I would think and I personally would stay away. You can sell your top end for a good price on BHQ. 75-80% of new I woul say. Blaster pistons, gaskets, ect.

You will need your cases trenched and port matched. Prolly around 250 from any sponsor.

All in all cost from nothing is around 2300 with domes cut for your altitude.

You shoul be able to sell your top end with pistons for around 800-900 and your crank for 200-250?

Hope that helps I might be off on prices a tad. If you go with a billet crank add 300-400 more.

Don't know what kind of riding you doing ..but im curious to know if a 10 mil would be any fun in the trails? Seems to be a bit much to me.

Ya being able to idle trails in 3rd or 4th just lugging around then hitting the gas and having the powerband jump to life and scream across an open field while your buddies on their (insert random 4stroke or banshee) bikes are still trying to get their motor to Rev up in 3rd. Mmm, the fun it will be!!

Besides, we're American, we might as well have more power than we know what to do with!!

Even the 4mm serval is too much for trails unless I'm riding with very experienced riders pushing the limits. Just cruising a trail with the wife I'll go through more fuel than my wife, my two friends, and their two girlfriends combined! haha... and if its real tight trails such as wooded sections they do have the advantage over me with their "controllable" power. But if the goal is to get from A to B quicker and if the trails are open enough to see anything over second gear I have the advantage.
