I'm building my first shee and really don't know much about the advantages/disadvantages of advancing the timing. My motor is stock stroke and .080" over (so it's on its last leg). I have the basic bolt ons like pipes, reeds, pods. I already need to buy a new timing plate so should i get an adjustable plate and go +4 or leave it stock? I mostly do trail riding and some WOT stuff on back roads.

be careful with advanced timing...too much and the motor could pop REAL fast. Keep it at +3 to +4 degrees, and run the highest octane you can from the pump (not shitty cheap gas either). Listen for pinging/detonation. Check your plugs too for signs of detonation.

Ive run +7 on my 350 130 compression now. Is that not good. Been that way for years, and rips!!

 

Ive always been told that only serious drag bikes go past +4. As far as it being no good IDK but thats what ive always heard.
