erickson483 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I'm building my first shee and really don't know much about the advantages/disadvantages of advancing the timing. My motor is stock stroke and .080" over (so it's on its last leg). I have the basic bolt ons like pipes, reeds, pods. I already need to buy a new timing plate so should i get an adjustable plate and go +4 or leave it stock? I mostly do trail riding and some WOT stuff on back roads. Quote
zach45 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Go plus 4. Can't go wrong. Use 91/93. What ever is available at the pump Quote

Lowflyin Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Go plus 4 and make sure your jetting is good. Banshees come timed stock assuming bad jetting and shitty fuel Quote
zach45 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I ran mine up to 179 and it broke up real bad twords the top end... I would just go plus four Quote
slothman Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 be careful with advanced timing...too much and the motor could pop REAL fast. Keep it at +3 to +4 degrees, and run the highest octane you can from the pump (not shitty cheap gas either). Listen for pinging/detonation. Check your plugs too for signs of detonation. Quote
possum Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Ive run +7 on my 350 130 compression now. Is that not good. Been that way for years, and rips!! Quote
cline Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Ive run +7 on my 350 130 compression now. Is that not good. Been that way for years, and rips!! Ive always been told that only serious drag bikes go past +4. As far as it being no good IDK but thats what ive always heard. Quote
