coon
got the motor out and got my leaktester built but im missing a carb boot clamp and after running around all day i said screw it so i cant do my leakdown test untill tomarrow after work, but i notice the two bolts under the case right above the drain plug are wet with gear oil but i dont see 2 quarts worth of oil that leaked out there. quadpro26
sounds like a seal or the cases are leaking into the crank cases burning the oil. was you bike running really rich at some point and you leaned it out?
bluebanshee98
i love the gsxr its only a 600 but a ton of fun, makes its power around 8k rpm though...im going to do a leakdown test i didnt even notice how much i could learn from one. wouldnt it be smart to do a leakdown test before and after the rebuild just to make sure after all the new parts there isnt a leak somwhere somehow? pics? 600's are alot of fun and you'll never take them to their full potential on the street. i loved my 03 cbr600rr. sold it to a friend. wish i still had it.... my 03 r1 and 05 r1 are totally different machines. the 03 has tons of low end and mid range grunt with a decent top end. the 05 has decent low end but a big mid range and redicious top end up pull. so im sure you know which one i take on the highway more

coon
im not sure of the compression on the top end i didnt wanna check it and keep kicking it over incase something is serioulsy damaged in the bottom end...i did the leakdown test ith holds psi and doesnt leak out i sparyed all around and there is no leaks even where i thought the bottom bolts were leaking there not must have been some gear oil that ran on the case from the last oil change...so can anyone tell me what the deal is why my bottom end blew? if i had a bad crank seal wouldnt it loose psi on the leakdown test? Larry's Shee
Well, two quarts of oil had to go somewhere. Few possibilities left, kick seal, sprocket seal, clutch arm seal, case mateing, or fucking hole in bottom. Reguardless seems there would be obvious evidence of where it got out, even if it happened on the first ride and it took this long to seize
coon
right...the case inst bone dry but alot of oil did go somewhere..i just dont know where or how...im going to drain it to see excalty how much oil is left in there...but i dont see where is leaked out anywhere and the leakdown test was holding psi for a good amount of time i think i read 1 psi per min is normal and i was loosing less than that. Larry's Shee
How about the shifter seal? Shit, forgot that and neutral switch cover
cline
In your leakdown test the pics of your gauge looks to be right around the 10psi range. Everything that I have ever read in here says not to go past 6psi or you can cause problems for yourself. Obviously your motor is screwed right now but for future leakdown tests just thought I'd put that out there.
coon
i was at 9 psi its the way i took the pic... i read 12 max psi or the seals blow...i deff didnt cause any damage i feel like a dumbfuck though i checked the shifter seal no oil so i took the flywheel cover off and my bolt was off and the fly wheel was loose explains the metal scratching sound so then i decided to drain the oil and there was 2 quarts in there i dont know why i didnt not see any in the case? i just feel so stupid but relived! but thanks alot guys for the quick responses and good answers now i just gotta put my motor back in lol. Jereme6655
check for your woodruf key.....if you didn't put your flywheel bolt on tight enough then you could have a sheared key. check it all out....put some locktite on the shaft and torq that flywheel nut down to at least the torq specs. ohh.....an check out your trigger pickup.....if your flywheel came off or shifted.....there's a good chance it smacked her pretty good. check to see if its alright and then make sure you set the gap again.
