Jeremy_bell_banshee99
Im picking up some parts today, i got some cylinders port matched to the cases, 35mm carbs, pods, and talking to the guy he says the cylinders had the intake ported (windows a little taller, smoothed out) i need someone to rise my exhuast port but i dont have 300$ and dont want to run the superstock piston. Who can help me out here?
AKheathen
why do you need to raise the exhaust? is the power not revving enough? honestly, you go more on transfer vs exhaust, not intake windows. it's a big deal about having those timing correct. and, to do that, the proper tool runs right at $300+, not including the bits. Surfrjag
you can raise the exhaust port with a dremel tool a steady hand and the right bits... this will net you a few hp but dont go too far. you can also clean up the bottom of the transfers and smooth out the intakes with the dremel
BigRed350x
...or you could send your cylinders off to Kevin @ HJR and get the job done right the first time and not have to jack with buying all the right tools and teaching yourself what to do and what not to do. Let someone who has already done the homework and has the experience do the work. It will be a boat-load cheaper in the long run unless you plan on becoming a builder and selling your port work. - Jared
Surfrjag
Why wouldnt you want the superstocks?
Jereme6655
cause vitos pistons aren't the greatest pistons in the world... they're not bad and many have gotten away with some good riding from them......but others have had horror stories from hell with them
Coupelx
Hog it out like a redneck porting a 350 Chevy.
Jeremy_bell_banshee99
Id rather not fuck it up, the intake windows are opened up and its all smooth, same with the exhuast and the transfers, but the transfer ports and exhuast port havent been opened or shaped or anything. When someone pays 300$ for a port job, the guy does all that along with the port shaping, all i need is the port shaping. I dont want to spend 300$ to do it. Id spend like 150$ or so to do it if any REPUTABLE builder. Not to get a ton of smartass comments, who will do it?
Coupelx
Its expensive because its a very time intensive process. There are dozens of variables that goes into making a 2stroke run properly. The intake windows do not play a critical role in the durations. They are opened up to fill the crankcase better. Put it back together and run it. WINDYCITYJOHN400
cause vitos pistons aren't the greatest pistons in the world... they're not bad and many have gotten away with some good riding from them......but others have had horror stories from hell with them The BASIC replacement piston from Vito's are junk. But the Super Stock pistons are made by Wiseco for Vito's and we've had great luck with them. You can even look in the dyno section in the random dyno discussion and see just how well they work. Plus they are cheaper than just buying standard Wiseco pistons for your rebuild. Everyone says ship your cylinders out and get them ported....and I agree. But if your on a budget.... They also never take into consideration the fact that you will need to pay for shipping. So your looking at $300-$350 in porting, plus shipping, plus pistons, plus bore/hone....it can add up. Under $200 for a set of pistons that can slap in and get you into the 60's HP wise.......priceless. They aren't a piston you run for a lifetime. Just until you can afford to go all in on some good porting. So far they have held up for 80+hours on a guys bike who is making 65+HP and beating on the bike so bad, that he went through 3 clutches in a single season and blew out a complete set of works shocks. So if they hold up to his abuse.....I'd say they'll last till your money tree comes back to life and you can get your porting.
