LawDog
Im going to buy my buddies hot rod 4mm crank, ported jugs and pistons for $300.00. He said he has ran the top end for two seasons so it wouldnt hurt to just do a rebuild on the top end. Would the pistons listed below be good for the rebuild. Yamaha Banshee/RZ350 .010 Platinum Pistons Piston Pair NEW PAIR of WSM, +.010 over (64.25 mm bore) Platinum Series Pistons. Fits Yamaha Banshee, all years and RZ350 (RZ 350) 1982-1990 models. The Platinum pistons are a high strength hardened piston that is designed to prevent skirt and ring groove breakage in stock and performance applications. The pistons are treated with a non-abrasive coating which reduces heat and friction for added horsepower and greatly extends piston life. Jereme6655
ive heard some people say WSM make decent pistons, and ive heard others have had horror stories from the WSM pistons. Not too many people seem to complain when it comes to Wiseco Pro-Lite pistons...

If it is a 110 rod(stock length) use a Wiseco 513 series piston in the appropriate size for your bore. If it is a 115 rod(long rod) then you should use a Wiseco 795 series in the correct size. Wisecos are forged and that is the only kind of piston for a performance motor. 4mil cranks come in both rod lengths. ALWAYS buy quality parts or you will have to spend MORE money doing it a scond time. Not to mention, you don't want your bike breaking down on the trail, as your bike will go farther in 1/2 hour than you can walk all day. slothman
most people go with Wiseco because they are known for quality forged pistons that last

Larry's Shee
What about the hot rod pistons made for stroker cranks? Post a linc. To the best of my knowledge hot rods makes cranks and con rods.
Jereme6655
What about the hot rod pistons made for stroker cranks? what about Wiseco Pro-lites.... seriously though.....wiseco makes one of the best pistons out there.....i think ive only heard of 1 story where someone said their wiseco piston came apart. Other than that there seems to be someone once a week on there that says they're piston shattered (non-wiseco) and now they need an entire top end rebuild.....on a recent rebuild. if your trying to pinch pennies thent he banshee is not for you....its not the kind of bike that is going to react nicely to skimping. however in these times i understand if your worried about spending too much......which is why you should look into our SITE SPONSORS as they can get you the wiseco kits you need for cheaper than you'll find. The 513 and 795 series I listed in my previous post ARE ProLites. That is the piston you should use in a Banshee and that is why I mentioned them. AKheathen
you need to know 2 things for sure- 1: rod length...... most 4mill hr cranks are long rod, so you will probably need that, but be 100% before ordering. (+5mm) 2: bore size...... don't assume that 2 seasons means you need "a little overbore" definately check, or have it checked. in 2 seasons, you may need more than .5mm, and you may need absolutely no up-sizing. going too tight is going to be a big fat seize situation, and too loose will lead to a blow-up of total destruction... wasm isn't really that bad, and they have some nice "ported" pistons....
