Strm Trpr
Nice... My buddy is driving to Pismo right now. Have you ridden Sand Mountain? http://www.duneguide.com/sand_dune_guide_sand_mountain.htm
decon
I hope your buddy knows it's going to be raining in pismo this weekend...
Strm Trpr
Luckily he and his family aren't camping. On another note, 5 of us will be at Sand Mountain from May 30th to June 3rd.
decon
I havn't been to sand mountain yet, maybe I need to mention that to the fellas. How many hours is the drive?
Strm Trpr
I just realized this, it's damn near the same mileage and drive time from my door step to either riding area. Not sure where you're located, I'm in Stockton. According to Google Maps, from my door to the Kiosk at Pismo it is 269mi and takes 4hrs 40mins. I-5 S to 41 S to 46 W to 101 S to 1 S to Pier Ave and you're the beach. I'll be in Pismo April 27th thru the 29th. Then from my door to the turn off of Hwy 50 it is 263mi and takes 4hrs 39mins. I-5 N to I-80 E to Fernley exit 48. Turn right onto SR 343, stay left and enter the traffic circle. Take the third exit onto Hwy 50 Alt E/E Main St and then continue onto Hwy 50 E. Destination is on the left. Should be about 52 miles after exiting I-80. Here's the address for the turn off hwy 50. 22360 Austin Highway, Nevada I'll be at Sand Mountain May 30th thru the 3rd. decon
Yeah I'm about an hour 1/2 away from you in Oakland, are there more dunes behind the big mountain?
Strm Trpr
Yeah man, there are other big dunes all around the mountain. It's huge, there is some where around 4500 acres to ride. Believe me, you will not be disappointed!
m671054
That all depends on other places youve been to. If pismo is all you know then the size of the mountain will blow you away. But dumont has better bowl riding with similar big dunes, glamis is an amazing ride due to the size of the area. I think the best riding ive had was at st anthony due to the fact that the place is usually empty, smooth and fast. But dont get me wrong sand mtn is my favorite. The drag hill is like no other. I'll be up in may around the same time as well. What kind od bike do you have duner or drag.
Strm Trpr
Yeah, I've only ridden Pismo and Sand Mountain. I have yet to experience Dumont or Glamis. I like to ride the Dunes.

I have been going to Pismo most of my life & it is a fun place to ride the dunes & it's close to me for a weekend run. I had a great time at sand MT last year. I also had a great time up at Winchester bay OR . The topper was Glamis for mre . I would like to add Dumont to the list this year!
