why is one pipe hotter than the other

Recommended Posts

what up fellas! I need some help here. My left side pipe is hotter than the right at idle by the way its a new build ... compresion is good stock carbs are synced floats are set ... I'm starting to think my left piston rings arent set causing it to heat up I'm also hearing pinging coming from the hotter pipe but when I hold on to it it stops so I'm thinking its rubbing on something  any suggestions ???

Thanks in advance!

double check everything. swap plug wires, check plugs. if its not getting warm its not fireing... even clean the carb again.

oh yeah I also swaped the plug wires same pipe was still getting hotter, I also cleaned the carbs and shot compressed air through them

Thanks bro... you guys have any other suggestions ?

both side are firing its just that the left side gets alot hotter quick...

I'll try some new plugs...

if the plugs wet i would say spark issue, and since you already swapped wires im gunna say a new plug should do it. im far from an expert tho so dont rape me if im wrong

Street is your TORS system completely unplugged? Are the pick-up magnets on the outside of the flywheel clean? Is your pick-up gap set to around .020? Check out the TORS and flywheel pickup. If the flywheel is rusty might want to clean it up and try there.

Swap out the CDI, leave your coil on, then do the stator with your CDI and try to narrow the problem if you have access to another set of electrical.

Adam

Adam,

I didnt want to hear that but was one of my next steps in the process of elimination ... I have all the wires soldered to the stator...

any other suggestions before I do that

Thanks!
