just got my banshee and it's not quite running as well as i think it should be. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good places to take it to get fixed/jetted?? I live about 30 minutes north of madison.

I've been reading alot about the jetting, but I dont know where to start.

The guy I bought it from said it's a 4mil, but I dont trust him. I have no idea what's done in the engine and dont even know where to start with the jets. And to top it off I bought a 2-1 intake w/ a new carb so I'm starting from scratch with no clue what I'm doing. I'd just feel safer having someone who knows what they're doing work on it.

Fmf fattys, pwk 38mm. Anyone around the madison area care to help me? I've got a nice shop and tools. I'm just not confident in my jetting abilities...

Just bought the carb. It's not even on yet. It had 2 mikuni 34's on it and they were junk.(threads on cap stripped, clip not on 1 needle. Slide spun in 1) Im switching to the 2-1 to make jetting/maintenance easier in the future

  • 2 weeks later...

i got my shee back in 03 with a single 35 no aribox----had to run it with the choke on it was so lean--white plugs!! had 165 mains!!!!!--went on trinity site and it suggested 175-185 mains--i put a 185 main in and worked my way down--with 185 plugs were wet almost and black in color---after a few more tests i ended up with 175-178-plugs and come out perfect color every year--(cant remember since 03 but its been the same since then). I started my wrenching experience on my first quad--blaster-16 years old with no experience or knowlegde what so ever. It takes time but man did I learn alot from my blaster-wasnt a great site like this for info==- i ran it so lean the whole head pipe turned rainbow--that was fun. Having a single carb on a banshee is the most novice setup you can have. When I ride fast trails that have tons of puddles i wish i had a air box but i cut out a oval of a two-liter bottle and slide it over the filter to help from the filter getting soaked. Bolt your carb--see what company you bought it from suggests for jets with your mods and do plug checks/common sense---you'll get it.

Ya, I gave up. Too much overtime at work right now and not enough time to play with my toys at home. I took it to a local shop to have them jet it for me.

I've been wrenching on stuff for 12-13 years, just never had to do any jetting. I plan on learning this summer and have been reading a lot on here. My main problem is just not knowing where to start or what jets to order. Once I get the bike back and the jetting is close to where it should be, I should have no problems in the future. I just didn't have the time or confidence to try it this time.
