CruelSoul
Ok got my new nut and washer for my sprocket today since I lost my old one, heres the problem it will not tighten looks like the threads might be a lil screwed up anyway to fix it for now until I get a new shaft, anyone know what threader size it is maybe I could rethread it? NetBSD
how bad are the threads? if the nut wont tighten now i doubt running a die on it will help. try putting a washer between the nut and sprocket? maybe the outer threads are in better shape
CruelSoul
Not to bad looking but once tightened so far in by finger, and once I use the socket it doesn't wanna tighten up doesn't hit that snug point at all.
Coupelx
just seems like the threads are skipping? I remember trying to locate a nut ASAP as mine had removed itself and never found anything close at a hardware store so im not sure its a standard thread. let me know if you end up needing a shaft. i have one ill send you for cheap. CruelSoul
How hard is this to do aswell this would be my first one I have done, I am mechanically inclined and have done a crank before so should be a piece of cake?

CruelSoul
For the time being I tightened it in as best as I could, and then I also locktited the nut think I could get away with that, also thought about just throwing a tack weld on the end of the nut to get me by for now. 11AGUY
had the same damn problem... not sure what the deal is???? I stripped one and had to cut the nut off with a dremel tool.... seems like this is a common problem For the time being I tightened it in as best as I could, and then I also locktited the nut think I could get away with that, also thought about just throwing a tack weld on the end of the nut to get me by for now. Every fastener on a Banshee has a torque spec. If you use a torque wrench instead of an impact wrench, along with a little Loctite, you won't have a problem with fasteners stripping or coming loose. CruelSoul
I never had a torque wrench nor a impact on mine I always tightened it by hand but this poor machine was sadly abused by the previous owner/owners, I mean hey I did get it for a couple hundred bucks so far I have done the following since buying it a few months back. Complete top end, cylinders, pistons, rings, gasket kit, reeds and cages, filter, tors removal, bearings all the way around, just installed a seal behind the sprocket, installed a new chain and sprockets, complete swing arm rebuild kit with new carrier, head pretty soon I should have a brand new machine HAHA. I also installed tors removal kit aswell tires all the way around but hey for 400 bucks I couldn't complain I guess.
NetBSD
if you are worried the nut might come off during riding a small tack weld would hold it or you could jam some lead strips inside the nut so it grabs the threads a little better. if it were me and you are going to change the shaft out i would just put 2 or 3 decent tacks on the nut/shaft and call it good oh and get a damn torque wrench, they are cheap and save money in the long run. im used to working on heavy equipment so i have a habit of over tightening shit on small stuff so i need a torque wrench

I am just saying that somebody( not neccassarily you) either overtightened it and stripped it or under tightened it so it came loose and damaged the threads. CruelSoul
Thats what happened to me I was riding it and it came off so must have damaged the threads when it did that.
