theshee
Should be a great card, seems like the events in other countries always trump the US cards. Who ya got? Preliminary card (on Facebook) Featherweight bout: Zhang Tiequan vs. Issei Tamura Preliminary card (on FX) Bantamweight bout: Takeya Mizugaki vs. Chris Cariaso[ Middleweight bout: Riki Fukuda vs. Steve Cantwell Bantamweight bout: Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Vaughan Lee Lightweight bout: Takanori Gomi vs. Eiji Mitsuoka Main card (PPV) Lightweight bout: Anthony Pettis vs. Joe Lauzon Featherweight bout: Hatsu Hioki vs. Bart Palaszewski Middleweight bout: Yushin Okami vs. Tim Boetsch Welterweight bout: Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Jake Shields Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs. Mark Hunt Light Heavyweight bout: Quinton Jackson vs. Ryan Bader Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson On the main card im going- Lauzon (shouldnt but will), Hioki, Boetsch, Shields is going to get back on track, Kongo, Rampage, and the NEW champion Ben Smooth Henderson I could be wrong, but Frankie has flat lucked out twice with Maynard. Should have been finished twice, but Maynard couldnt finish a sandwich. I thin kHenderson has the size, takedowns, wrestling, grappling and kicks to take edgar out. Should be a sick card, cant wait. njbanshee
I'm going with... Lauzon, Tough kid... I hope he pulls it off Hioki, Someone oriental needs a win, I really haven't seen either guy fight a lot. So I'm going with a croud pleasing fight. Okami, another oriental winner, plus tim is washed up. Shields, was never impressed with the china man. Shields comes from a great camp. He will win with his wrestling and ground work. Kongo, Hunt is an old fuck. good chin, but past his prime. Kongo needs a win or its a wrap for him. Jackson, Bader is gonna stand with him and if Tito could rock him then wait for what Rampage does. Bader is too muscular to through a punch. Edger, This kid is tough, great bjj and wrestling. Stand up and foot work are kinda sick. He's from jersey... nough said. locogato11283
Rampage came in fat. He could get out worked by Bader and lose a decision due to gassing.
theshee
Yeah Rampage was 6 over, good think he is the fan favorite in Japan or Dana would be throwing a fucking fit.
njbanshee
He is a big dude and I'm sure cuts a lot of weight. Maybe he is taking a page out of Edgers book and not cutting weight to stay fresh. Not sure, but I hope he wins cause a loss to Bader putts him on thin ice. theshee
Rampage looked shitty, pettis looked damn good, boetch made the best comeback ever, Henderson flat out whipped edgars ass. Good fights.
locogato11283
I didn't watch, but at least I called Page/Bader right..
njbanshee
I hope they don't fuck Edger out of his rematch... he did give two immediate rematches to his last opponents. I thought he won with technical stricking and takedowns. I felt Henderson only won by steeling rounds with one big shot or an exciting submission. Hendersons face doesnt bruise up like Edgers does. Close fight either way. I think Rampage just showed up to get paid. I used to like watching him, but he is not the same fighter he once was. I think he's done. theshee
Fight metric has Henderson dominating Edgar in striking, no to mention how badly he battered him, and frankie never had Henderson in any dangerous positions, or hurt him striking. Im not a fan of scoring takedowns for points, so edgar really didnt gain much with his 4 takedowns that he didnt do anything with. He isnt getting a rematch, thats already been decided, BUT he did get offered an immediate title shot against Jose Aldo if he would drop to 145lbs. Would be cool to see someone with his skillset fight Aldo, although I think Aldo would handle him. Im kinda sick of all these rematches though, it gets old paying money to see the same guys fight. Look how badly the UFC fucked up the lightweight division keeping it a stalemate between Edgar and Maynard/Penn for a year and a half over a rematchs. Now there is a list of 155ers a mile long that are right up there for a title shot. I agree about Rampage, Dude used TRT therapy before the fight, came in looking like shit overweight, and then had a lack luster performance. He is just fighting to get paid. Looks like him and Shogun are going to fight next by the shit they are tweeting back and forth.
theshee
Edgar gets a rematch, just announced it. Fucking rematches are getting annoying!
njbanshee
Kid deserves it...... did you really think he wasn't gonna get it after Dana himself said he the bout scored with Edger winning?
locogato11283
Gayest shit ever. So in his last 6 fights, he will have fought 3 people.. Annoying and ridiculous. I can't stand Edgar and I don't think he's all that good. He stays busy and out of danger and does just enough to get the W, as evident by his 8 decisions..57% of his wins.. theshee
Agree Tyler. This fight will have the same outcome. Edgar won't ko Ben, can't submit him, and will get battered again. Piss poor idea having this rematch putting the 155 class on hold again for the same guy. Funny how he was offered a fight with Aldo for his belt and turned it down, must not be too confident in those hands.
theshee
And I'm not a fan of the fucking rematches. Diaz didn't deserve it against condit (thank god that nick is a tool and got busted so it fell apart), Edgar got his ass beat and really didn't deserve a rematch, Bj getting a rematch after losing his belt was dumb. Some rematches make sense like when couture got a cut on his eye lid against vitor, rematched and destroyed him, Anthony Johnson rematching Kevin burns after nearly getting an eye poked out made sense, but these rematches just because the loser feels they won is too much. You let this happen now, and every fighter that loses a close fight is going to demand a rematch. Losing is part of sports, you accept the loss, grow from it and come back better.
