Need a budget trail shock

Acheron

Recommended Posts

First post, but have spent lots of time reading the hq.

So I just dug the shee out of storage after about 3 years or so of not being able to do much with it.

My question is, is there a better shock that bolts on that I can get for a decent price? I know with minor mods the 450 shock works, but with the amount I ride it doesn't pay, I just need something to replace my squishy stock. Doesn't have to be anything special, just better than the shit stock.

Thanks in advance.

There aren't too many options that will be cheaper than YFZ shocks. You will find, however, that YFZ shocks will be softer than stock shocks. I've always found that stock banshee shocks make the bike ride like a brick shit house, and most people want a softer shock. If you need something heavier, you're going to want to look into aftermarket. Works AT Steelers are your cheapest option.

Now you have me confused MATT. Is it ok to use the longer shocks such as yzf, trx450r, ltz ect. ? And live with the ball joint issue and keep an eye on them? Would yfz spindles help the issue?

I never recommend cobbling together a front end. Stick with the proper length shocks, and do it right the first time.

The only reason I told him he's not going to find an aftermarket shock cheaper than YFZ's is because YFZ shocks sell for $75 all day long...
