possum
Is there any difference in packing from fmf, toomey, or shearers. I need to do some repacking and was wondering if different packing changes the tone of pipes or if one is quieter? I have shearers and toomeys. n2otoofast4u
IMO standard house insulation works better than any of the packings that you can buy, and its WAY cheaper!

Zwiser
you can use any packing for any different silencer brands, also steel wool works good and insulation
2strokeshees
I use the FMF packing. Use on my CPI's, and FMF's. I will be using house insulation next go around.
possum
Is there a way to tell if the packing needs replacement? I just have never done it. I know there probably saturated.
KarTek
Yeah, the packing in my pipes is so wet, you could probably wring it out. How tight do you pack the filler? I'd like to get this done before I start riding again.
Zwiser
whenever it gets to loud is when you repack it.
KarTek
whenever it gets to loud is when you repack it. Nice... It's my first Banshee. I've never heard another one so I have nothing to compare it to! It sounds loud as hell to me! Anyway, nice bike you have there! That's what mine is supposed to look like without all the crap from the previous owner...

mhoksch
What typre of house insulation do you use? Just regular fiberglass roll? Any benefits to insulation or steel wool or is it all the same? Edited February 20, 2012 by mhoksch
06specialedition
What typre of house insulation do you use? Just regular fiberglass roll? Any benefits to insulation or steel wool or is it all the same? I think I used R15 insulation, no problems and worked great.

sidewayz
wow, are you guys serious ? im about to do my PC's . im wondering if there is any real performance variables . depending on what you use ?
Larry's Shee
I doubt it would be measureable even. You have a perforated core and the packing helps absorb the sound waves. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NC6EH8/ref=asc_df_B005NC6EH81911001?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=nextagus0065103-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B005NC6EH8 This is what they look like. Be aware tis is the price for 6 dozen if them They also have simular items at Dollar General, lots cheaper tho Edited February 24, 2012 by Larry's Shee
