zr2highrider
I have had this issue ever since i got my banshee about a month ago but have been doing nothing but working on it. I notice that when my shee is ideling, i get a rattle noise on the left side. Yanked the stator cover and stator, no loose screws or anything. When I give it just a little gas, it goes away. My clutch makes a noise (needs new cushions in the basket) but I havent heard a noise like this on my left side. I took the stator cover off yesterday in investigate some more and didnt really find anything. I only noticed one thing; when I turn my stator back and forth, I can hear a little "ting" or "clunk". Its not much at all but I didnt remember my last shee doing this. The stator has no play in it so I doupt it would be a bearing. I am about to post a video up on here because I am really baffled. Funds are short right now so I cant really dig into the top end for about another month or so. Any ideas on what could be going on? Thanks, Cameron
locogato11283
You shouldn't be hearing any noises coming from your stator. You need to locate the source of that noise.

locogato11283
If you don't get it figured out you can come up here next Saturday for the BansheeHQ Day. There will be a bunch of us working on bikes. I am sure we can get it figured out.

zr2highrider
Well I got a video of it but not running. Doing a clutch on it and also a water pump. Volume sucks on my ipod so you kind of have to turn the volume up to hear the noise. I found a video on youtube of what it sound like when it is running. amstall
Mine makes that same noise, I dunno if I'm just paranoid or if it's something going bad. Mine is in temporary retirement until I get the money for a serval motor. I guess I belong on YFZTech this year. lol Edited February 22, 2012 by amstall

zr2highrider
Thats what I mean. I dont know if im just paranoid about blowing up my bottom end or if something is actually wrong. I mean I had an 98 shee and it never did this. From what it looked like on that one youtube video, a few people have had this and still ride. I would rather find out what it is and fix it before it is something thats going to cost $$$$.
amstall
Mine has done it for quite a while. It's definitely not normal though compared to other banshee's I've been around. I do know that the side-to-side play of my rods on the crank is out a spec a bit, but I didn't have money for a crank when I did the top end, so I left it. The last 2 times I had it out it ran like hammered dog shit and kept getting hot, so I parked it. edgehanger
I had a banshee not to long ago rattling and knocking kinda like that...turned out to be the piston skirts. Bike still ran and never locked up. Not saying thats your problem but take the cylinder of and take a look. Maybe thats your flywheel...see if you can swap flywheels with some one.
