jakeseberger
Firstly, whats up everyone. Im new here to BHQ and the 4-wheel scene but have been around mx and street bikes since i can remember. I will be returning to the States here shortly and investing in a Banshee. The reason i came to you all is because you are the resident experts. I am currently torn between 2 Limited Editions (both all black), one 04' and one 06', both of which are very clean in the photos. i will be able to see them physically next weekend. The 04 - LRD pipes, jetted, boost bottle, TORs removal, race cut fenders, and nerf bars. Also comes with rear paddles mounted on Douglas rims. It is on its 3rd owner (the guy that has it now got it from dealership.) It has not been rebuilt and hours are unknown. Askin price is 2800obo. The 06 - FMF pipes, jetted, TAG bars. Comes with rear paddles on douglas rims and front sand tires on douglas rims also. Its on its 1st owner and according to owner, low hours. Has not been rebuilt either. asking price is 3500 obo. Im sure that either one can be haggled down a few hundred but i wanted opinions from you guys before i pull the trigger on one or the other. if you need to see them i can post the links up to them. THanks and anyone out there in OKC or surrounding area hit me up.
ticktock
Welcome to BHQ!! Banshee's are not an investment. They cost money all the time. Lol You are prolly better off spending 2800, getting a nice bike then sending out the cylinders for porting with the money you saved. Boost bottles do nothing and you will find many laughing at them. Stock crossover is great and will not cause the added weight and stress to the intakes. I would spend less and port personally. Use one of the site sponsors for porting, we have a plethora of them. Try to stay away from folks that offer porting in stages as they do not tailor to riders needs. I would also go with an adjustable timing plate @ +4 and you will see improvements throughout the power band We have a lot of info here on the site use the search and you will find the answers to most of the questions. We also see lots of nice parts go through the forsale sections so keep an eye out. Adam

toytech
If I were you I would get the less expensive one and build it to suit your needs. welcome to bhq
jakeseberger
I appreciate the responses fellas. The 04 is pending sale for this weekend so im just waiting to find out from the guy if he does sell or not. Either way either one i get its going to get a full make over. I like that the 04 already has nerf bars and the fenders, thats just some money i can save but im a bit partial on that 06 only because of the hours and it has a better known history. both of my 2 wheel machines started stock and where they are now has been my way of going about it. I guess its like saying buying a stock banshee and making it mine is like a blank canvas and im painting my piece of work. Ultimately the decision iwll be made after i see both in person and get on each one. here is the 04 04 LE Banshee here is the 06 06 LE Banshee @ticktock, i know the feeling on the investment comment. it was just the words that came out my fingers to the keyboard at that moment so i ran with it. I have a freshly rebuilt KTM 380sx (2stroke) with a stage II port job. that ones always needing a little attention here and there. also zx9r that i commute on and drag race with. A banshee in the mix wont help my checkbook any but itll make me happy. @shakar, i actually checked that one out on CL and its a nice one but to me it looks more showy. Im sure itll move quite well but its just a real nice. id be afraid to get it dirty. @toytech, thats the goal but its pending sale this weekend. ill find out when i get back to the states if its sold or not. ticktock
Sorry wasn't trying to be a smartass there. Did you see this one forsale on HQ? http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=151721&pid=1312533&st=0entry1312533 It's pretty bomb actually Adam
jakeseberger
that thing is really nice. i wasnt implying you were a smartass haha... im trying to find a relatively stock one, the stretched look isnt me personally. Ive got my zx9 stretched but it handles like a mack truck. when you first bring up the BHQ page and theres that yellow framed, blue plastic shee carving up some dunes.. thats what im looking for ultimately. ticktock
That really is a good deal for a decked out 10 mil. I would buy that if I lived near dunes. Adam
jakeseberger
Without a doubt thats a killer deal, just not what i am looking for. something i can fly with too
Starwriter
Find something under $3,000 with the following minimum aftermarket parts. +4 or +6 roundhouse swingarm axle pipes paddles, front sand tires, wheels some billet or chrome goodies The following aftermarket items would be ideal if included and make for a sweeter deal. A arms shocks cool head VForce reeds carbs more billet or chrome goodies All these things can be seen. Anything that the motor has done inside, is at the word of the seller and should be considered as a minus, since it was probably done by an idiot. So, if you get $3K of $4K worth of goodies for less than $3K, the Banshee is essentially free. Ride it till it blows or you want more power, and then build the motor the way you want it.
