eldreder
ive got a bent durablue axle, i'm not sure how bad it's bent, looks to be about an eigth inch of travel up/down on the end, i'll measure it more precisely tomorow. durablue said they can straighten them for $80 dollars if it's bent less than 186 thousandths. Does anyone know how they bend them back and if i could try it myself? i have axcess to a decent machine shop
sheerider11
If you have access to a decent shop then I'm sure heat and pressure will do the trick. You just need a way to spin it true and have a dial indicator to measure the bend.
Coupelx
i wont pretend to know anything about how axles are made but i dont think i would heat it. any machine shop worth a damn should be able to straighten it though.

sheerider11
Well there you go no heat. Why don't you call dura blue and just ask. Don't say you want to do it your self but just ask what the process is. I doubt its some secret there keeping
eldreder
that's probably a good idea
Starwriter
Put it between centers in a lathe. Find the point with the most runout. That's the middle of the bend. Put it in a hydraulic press. Bend it slightly past straight to allow of it to spring back. Recheck it in the lathe. Hopefully the lathe and the press aren't very far apart. You're gonna make a lot of trips back and forth.
thomas h.
I used some washers to shim the rim to get by. It was two one one lug and one on another worked perfect.
