Unless your motor is kicking back on you hard enough to kill covers, a stocker is fine, and even then. There are ways to prime your motor so it is less likely to kick back on you. When a motor kicks back it puts reverse pressure on the kicker gear and puts a tremendous load on the cover. It can (and will) also break teeth off the kickstart idler gear, as well as breaking the teeth or shattering the gear on the backside of your clutch basket.
