ksizzle
I've searched and read quite a bit on this topic. So far i removed everything but the rod which moves back and forth slightly when i look down the clutch release lever hole. It may have a small bur preventing it but doesn't look too bad. So, any new alternatives to getting the rod out minus splitting the case (the ball welded to the set screw which i pulled out not the rod)? If i must pull the motor and split the case I read somewhere to flip it over and just take the bottom end off? I have a manual that breaks everything down, but im asking for any easier advise or walk throughs out there, less stuff off the better. If your clutch disengagement rod is stuck in the trans shaft and won't budge, you will probably have to split the cases to be able to get to it and drive it out with a screwdriver or something. Its not a hard job to do. - Jared

NickisGod
try tipping the case on side and wiggle the clutch arm. thats if u get lucky, or else try a magnet. what happen? weld a clutch rod? been there done that
Coupelx
if its loose you might be OK. i have a trans that its welded in there solid. someone really did some coasting. edit- if you are cheap like me, make sure to grease the new rod and ball real good during install and run 2 qts of oil rather than 1.5. Just a precaution.
ksizzle
I have play in the rod and it's spins all around just can't get it past the shaft where the clutch return lever is. It must be shroomed so slightly b/c there was some damage on the return lever. Thats why it's so frustrating.. So close but so far and I was looking for any other ideas. There was basically nothing left of the bearing just flattened metal on the adjust screw. And ill be ordering the pancake bearing along with other parts from f.a.s.t. BigRed350x
Splitting the cases may seem like a daunting task, but you can handle it with the help of the guys here on HQ. If the shift-rod is stuck, I'm afraid splitting the cases may be your only choice. -Jared
Phelps
i'm afraid that you may have to split the cases... i tried prying on once and busted my cases. it turned a simple task into a daunting one.

ksizzle
Once I have it apart and good access to the shaft the rod is in am i gonna cut one end of the rod clean to slide it through if it wont slide out either way? Any parts I should replace while in there.. Gaskets?
Phelps
yes buy a complete seal and gasket kit and a tube of yamabond, or 1211. replace the crank seals for sure. once you get in there you will decided how the best way to go about removal. HolySheet
I am dealing with the exact same thing right now. Only my rod had welded it self in there. So I had to replace the main axle in the tranny. Which is a little bit bigger job, but still not a terrible one. ALso did it smash up the push lever? If so get a new one and don't mess with the burrs on it.
