sandstalker
I run mikuni 41mm tapered bored to 39mm carbs on mine with 17cc domes. The carbs are a bit over kill on my 4 mill cub but im not starving it of fuel and the bowls are massive. I have my plugs gap at 18 and timing needs to played with on the dyno with a wideband. GET A DUAL PINGLE!! After you get finished riding you need to flush or prime the engine with a oil based race gas mix to clean all the alcohol out of the motor. The alcohol will break down after about a week and will seperate leaving moisture on the internals and eating the inside of the motor up. Its not hard to do but it is a PIA to mess with. Also you will go through alky like a crack addict with a day off! I run through about 10 gallons on a good race day. It has it's benefits in my opinion by running cooler in the motor should give more life to the engine as long as it is setup right and runs better the hotter the weather is outside. Other guys may have better suggestions but that is my setup.
shanYE west
Timing dont need to be tuned on a dyno with a wide band.. Just have to watch the plugs. They dont need to be purged with race fuel.. I use 89 pump gas. It doesn't break down and separate, it attracts moisture. as to answer the question by the OP. The pingle will work with over sized bowls. A fuel pump wont be needed. Timing will depend on the setup.. Just keep an eye on the plugs and watch the heat markings. Typically.. Timing should end up between 8-13 but there is a lot of variables. Start with Rich jetting and work your way down..
sandstalker
You purge your motor with straight 87 pump gas without any oil mix?? Do you put all your faith in plug markings?? I understand what your saying but if you have a dyno with a wideband then use it and don't half ass it by using plug markings!
Coupelx
a wideband 02 sensor measures left over oxygen in the exhaust which will tell you nothing about timing. you need to shoot your "tuner" or whoever you are getting your info from. I also check motor temps. I agree with coup on the sensor
Coupelx
the plug if read correctly can give you more of an indicator than a wideband also. after all it is at the scene of all the activity.
4mildkue
So with my dual pingle and bigger bowls And purge it if I'm not going to ride in a couple of days the setup will work fine?? And is it true I will gain 8-12 more hp??

And is it true I will gain 8-12 more hp?? HPgains depend on the motor and setup.. Typically alky is good for 7-11% gains. yes.. Dual pingle and billet bowls will be fine. Yes.. If your not going to ride for a few days.. its good idea to purge.. I've gone 2 weeks without purging.. I dont recommend it. But..

camatv
mix the corrct oil if it dosent SAY ON THE BOTTLE mixes with alcohol methanol DONT run it. redline oil does. klotz supertechniplate does and those are the only 2 i would or will run. drill out your stock cap if your using that. need plenty of air capacity to refresh the tank..
