thomas h.
Would anyone know if I could cut a yfz450 rear shock resi off and make a line to make it a remote to make room other parts?
DirtDiggler69
you can't just " Cut " it off and connect a line , its a single piece and the odds are that if you try you will destroy a perfectly good shock and cause injury to yourself . The gas it is charged with is under high pressure , and the reservoir and body are filled with oil. It would be a waste of time , money and braincells. domestic_beotch
I bet if you released the pressure with the valve then cut it, cleaned it up and tapped it right then you could do it. Would have to get the correct line also. But it was designed to be attached so no guarantee that it would work right. Oh and get it re charged too. thomas h.
I though it's plausible but will it proform like normal? If I sold it (value 40$) and picked up a remote shock for 150 (used) Or just modded it 20$ it think it is worth the risk.
thomas h.
Or cut the top mount off and rotate the resi out the way and weld it back but the heat would be a problem so I would have to take it off and then recharge the shock
wacko2000
Id sell the shock for what-ever its worth and hunt down a shock with a remote rezzi- You just missed a good deal on a rear axis shock- the dude parting out his yfzshee sold it for like 250.00 Your gonna spend some money but the gains will be well worth it. domestic_beotch
Why wouldn't it be a serious question? The guy wants to do something and he's looking for input. You would get better performance out of a aftermarket shock tho.
Larry's Shee
If I can ask, what are you wanting to use this on?

thomas h.
I guess I'll just go for it. Hoped for someone with real shock knowledge to say it will not work But I think it is worth the risk.

zach45
Would anyone know if I could cut a yfz450 rear shock resi off and make a line to make it a remote to make room other parts? Dont be mad son.. I too had thought this was a "crazy" idea... Some may say even insane.. But I took a dremel to my stock yfz shock to remove the bottle and worked like a charm... If you cut it correctly , you don't even. Need to let the gas out of the shock. It will leak out on its own.. After it was off I ground it smooth and J B welded the cut. I now run the shock without a rezzy, and I swear it rides better... Just be careful because Alumnium throws shards, it doesn't spark. So be sure to wear your safty goggles. Good luck Edited January 25, 2012 by zach45
thomas h.
Do you you think I could thread the shock body and resi? Would there be enough to thread? I hope not to have to weld nipples to it Or reposition the resi and weld I do want to keep it.
