dcalsv02 Posted January 15, 2012 Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 So on on most street bikes you can flip the shift linkage to where you shift down to go up gears and flip up to shift down gears. Is there a way to do that to the banshee? I would think it would be easier to click gears that way but the shift lever is connected directly to the shaft vs the street bikes that have linkage. Build a linkage yourself and an intermediate bearing for the shifter. If you're familiar with the streetbike setup, look at one and duplicate the design. They had a mechanism that could be adapted to do what you're hoping to do. The difficult part will be having the shift lever on the same horizontal plane as the shift rod it attaches to. One of the reasons the streetbikes have to have the setup you're trying to duplicate is the shift rod is on a much higher plane than the shift lever. - Jared Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sure, stomping down on the shifter may seem like the quick thing to do, but what about when you're on the throttle hard and trying to hang on to the bike. The forces acting on you will be forcing you off the back of the bike. Having your foot under the shifter to raise it works to your advantage. Trying to hold yourself on the bike and then raise your foot to stomp down is going to be hard. Doing this accurately with riding boots is going to be even harder. Sitting on a street bike, you are leaning forward and your legs are in a different position where gp style shifting would be easier to use. Makes sense.
