Need to be ready for St Patty's Day Weekend ! ! !

My buddy rides a "Race Gas Only" Honda 330R.

My other buddies ride Raptor 700's, a KTM 525 XC and a Honda 700XX, but I'm not too worried about the 4 Pokes.

The 330R is an easy 50lbs lighter than my Banshee, and the rider is about 80lbs lighter than me for a total of 130lbs difference.

I want to squeeze as much power out of my stock 2002 Banshee as possible before sending the jugs out to HJR for his Dune Port.

I also do not want to split the cases to have the crank welded just yet.

Current Mods:

Toomey T5's

Toomey "Perfect Jet Kit"

Toomey 2 into 1 Foam Filter w/Outer Wear <--- Foam is disintegrating and needs to be replaced.

The Honda 330R and my 2002 Banshee have not been to the dunes together yet, so I want to be ready for St Patty's Day Weekend.

This is what I want to do so I can say, "Its basically stock, just tuned".

I plan to run race gas in the future, so I want Mull Engineering to perform their "Race Gas Head Mod", which leads me to my "Race Gas" question.

I can get VP Racing "Street 100" at the pump for $7/gallon. http://www.vpracingfuels.com/page535437.html

Or I can get much better suited race fuel from the distributor. http://www.vpracingfuels.com/motocross.html

What Race Gas do you guys recommend I run?

Mods will be as follows:

Mull Engineering's "Big Mouth Venturi Intake Kit"

RB Designs bored and modded stock carbs w/TORS delete

VF 3's

Mull Engineering's "Race Gas" Head Mod

Timing Plate set to +4*

Toomey T5's

Also, the elevation where we ride is 4250 feet.

Where I live is virtually sea level and is where the tuning will take place.

I'll know more about the jets in the carbs this weekend when I pull them to send them out for mods.

Thanks in advance guys!

The Octane for your race gas selection all depends on cylinder compression...Depending on compression you could need the VP110 at sea level and only need the 100 octane at 4500 ft. So there are alot of variables that affect which gas you need to be running. If your jetted for sea level you are going to be rich in the hills. I suggest buying a drum of what ever fuel you need at sea level all the time. Just rejet for altitude.

Race fuel or not, your stock shee is gonna have its hands full, i wouldn't get to hyped up on beating that R, bc It aint gonna happen. Once kevin ports your cylinders you may have a chance, but until than your gonna be eating some sand brotha.

I wouldnt be sleeping on the 4pokes either, they run harder than the HQ guys give them credit for. My YFZ with just basic bolt ons and tuned mint, I abuse stock banshee's and even some with some mild port work- Plenty of members here that can attest to that.

Just go out and enjoy your ride..

Didn't even think about different elevations requiring different octanes.

I have an email into Mull Engineering about their race head mod and what race fuel they recommend.

Yeah, I hear you Joe, but he loves to drag race.

I would leave in 2nd gear on my 87 with the mods in my sig and I would stay even with him on his 330R.

I can't explain it.

It must desperately need a tune or something?

That is the plan eventually.

I want +2+1 a-arms, shocks, extended axle, +2 swinger and revalve the rear shock for the +2 swinger for the 4mil.

I do not want to split the cases until the top end needs to be rebuilt.

Then the cylinders will be HJR Dune Ported, stock crank trued and welded and the tranny will be cut by camatv, but until then I'm going to push the stock motor.

I was thinking I'd just run the most economically priced race gas and jet for elevation.
