Banshee ran, now won't start

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I took the Banshee for a ride a few weeks ago and got some water in the carbs. I took the intakes/reeds and carbs off and replaced the filters, cleaned everything up and put it together. Now it won't start. Kicking or towing behind the mower, or rolling down the biggest hill I can find. I have brand new plugs with nice blue spark, she just ain't running. I wanna go riding this weekend soooo bad. I picked up a second Banshee with a stuck ring on one cylinder but it has T5's and an airbox, should I swap the carbs/airbox/pipes from that on onto mine? I have Uni Pod dual clamp ons no box, and shearer in frame pipes. Anything to go riding this weekend!

Are you sure you put the little black hose that connects the two carbs back on?

Since I don't know what hose your talking about, I guess I never put it back on . Where does it go? Looks like I am cutting some new hose tonight... if that gets it firing I would be so happy.

Check the gas. you say you took the carbs off, did you go through them good and clean out the insides?

Yes, I gave it the whole 9 yards, took it all apart and cleaned it real good. I don't have the crossover tube between the carbs so I have to figure out where that goes and put one on.

what he is talking about is the choke tube it connects the carbs it goes in the middle of both carbs you will know it if its not in cause i forgot mine and had the same prob put it on first kick started so its like your looking at your carbs right like the ( ) - ( ) that dash would be your choke tube go take a look

Thanks. I'll take the carbs off tomorrow and put in the crossover tubes and see if she fires! could I use standard 1/4 inch fuel line to make a new tube? or is it a smaller/bigger size? I have 1/4 inch tubing, 3/8 inch tubing, and 5/16 inch tubing....

Choke crossover tube is directly oppisite of the choke knob on other side of carb and goes straight across to other carb. Check that you have float bowls on correct carb. The bowl with a little "BB" goes on the left (choke) carb. Next check that you have slides in correct carb. They will fit in the "wrong" carb. The cutaway (angled slice, side) faces the air cleaner. Did you check float height? Put all the jets in, main jet washer and slosh baffle? Did you set air screw? Sure that needles dropped down into tube?

I took apart the carbs 1 at a time and seperated all the parts so in theory everything should match, but with my luck I mighta mixed something up, I'll install a crossover tube tomorrow and see if it runs...

Probably 1/4, about 3" long. Don't need to take carbs off to put it on.

Cool, I'll put the tube on tomorrow and see if it fires. if not, I'll take everything apart and sort it out...

WHOO HOOO! Thanks guys, you guys are life savers! I cut a piece of fuel line to fit in between the carbs and popped it on and go figure, fired right up and ran perfect! I am so happy right now. I get to go riding tomorrow! :headbang::dance:
