DwnSouth
So I pay this guy for some stuff last Friday Jan 6th. I spoke to him several times over the weekend and on Monday. He provided me a tracking # Monday evening and I have been unable to reach him since then. His phone has been disconnected and no response through email or Facebook accounts. (not a forum guy that I'm aware of). Seemed like a pretty stand up guy on the phone. He even offered to refund my money because of a small defect. I paid through paypal and sent as goods.. Thank god.( over 2k) here is the tracking info. Problem is I'm in Louisiana !!!
locogato11283
If you didn't have your items how would you know there's a defect? What all did you buy? And how did you even know the guy had stuff for sale? I'm lost here..
DwnSouth
He text me and told me about a broken bolt. No biggie. It was an eBay auction that he ended early to sell it to me straight up. I don't have the motor, it appears it was delivered to Cortez Colorado somewhere. That was the tracking number he gave me anyway. As I said before now his cell is disconnected. I'm trying to be optimistic here. I know I can get my money back as long as I don't wait too long. I prefer to get what I bought! Maybe he gave me the wrong info.... Look at the package it weighed 76 lbs. I would think a motor, carbs, filters would be heavier?? Jereme6655
heres an idea.....call the delivery company and question them.....they may be able to shed some light on the situation... especially if you have a tracking number. 06specialedition
Unless I'm reading that wrong it still says, "out for delivery". Maybe it's still enroute? But if your in Lou, why the hell did it go to or through Co.....
DwnSouth
I called ups prior to it being delivered. They said the sender would have to call to stop it. If the dude would have answered the phone, he could have did something. Now his phone is disconnected the package has a status of delivered and I'm sol on the goods! Good thing I didn't gift the money like he wanted me too. I told him I'd add the fee on top. That's waaaayyy to much money to risk something like this happening. How much does a motor weigh? I would think more that 76 lbs with packaging!
ticktock
Ya 75 lbs sounds close. Unless you purchased more than a motor. It sounds very scam like to me. Email or call 1 more Time an tell him your going to pull your payment. To hell with deadbeat sellers!! Adam
DwnSouth
Motor, carbs, filters, and packaging has to be about 90lbs. The guy bought the motor from another member here, never even cranked it. I spoke to the member her and he said he'd vouch for the guy that he was stand up. Maybe there's just a mixup? DallasGDub
Even if his phone is off, he should still be able to answer an email. Maybe not a scam, but huge mix up at least and in the end, you will still be SOL. I would file a claim, and let him work it out. Let say it is lost b/c it went somewhere else. If he had insurance, he would have to show proof of value or insurance is useless. Hard to do that on a motor. We went through this last year when UPS dropped a 421 that was packed in a crate. Even with insurance, they wanted copies of receipts ext... LUCKILY it worked out and nothing was hurt besides the cover. We had to show proof pf purchase of the cover to even get that from UPS. This situation was also dealing with a good friend as the sender, so he was on our side through out the whole thing. Can't imagine how hard it would be dealing with someone that is a random person on ebay.
DwnSouth
I think I'm gonna give it a few days.. When the dust settles worse thing happens is paypal gives me the money back and dude gotta deal with that issue. I'm hoping the motor shows up today or tomorrow. DwnSouth
My nerves wouldn't let me wait... Filed dispute through paypal. If I get the motor etc.. I resolve dispute dude gets his money.. No harm no foul! When I contacted paypal they made sure I had the contact info correct, Listened to my story, said that I was doing the correct thing and I was 100% covered. They said the funds were still in his account and placed a freeze on account. Hopefully it was just a mixup. I will be more than happy to resolve. Why no answered emails, phone disconnected, or any followup by the seller? Also he said he would ship the drag pipes next day and give me the track info.... Then nuthing ? Lesson of the day pay the 3% for goods!!! Kudos to paypal!
DallasGDub
You did the right thing and covered your ass. Now if you get the motor, he gets his cash, everyond is happy. In a situation where the seller is MIA, better safe than sorry.
