I'm pretty mechanically inclined but haven't had much experience in small motors. I'm not saying you don't know what jets are, I am saying you don't know what jets are in your bike. I usually check everything before I start a new machine up, some may say its not needed if the bike is stock. If you are running a stock air box and stock exhaust, chances are your jets are fine. That's not to say you don't need your carbs cleaned though. Take a look at your plugs, kinda curious to see what they look like if you are spitting black oil out of your pipes. Does the Crank Case use oil, is there extreme smoke on one side, Blue, Black, White. Does it bog at Wide Open Throttle (WOT) does it bog 0 - 1/4 Thrott. Everyone here wants to help, we all hate to see machines that do not run or had a life of improper care. Its winter in Michigan, Air is colder, fuel/air ratio changes, you are under 1000ft elevation. When I first got it I ran all the old fuel out of it. When the fuel got really low it started idling Normally when the fuel runs out it will rev a little higher. Carb Sync Video If it has a twist throttle maybe the carbs are out of sync. Check out this video, there are a couple more video's that go more in depth on youtube. This will answer a few questions. I am assuming the jets are stock though. I live in Michigan so I am at a normal elevation. Michigan is a 'normal' elevation, as compared to? I'm sure the guys here will help you through it. He's saying he's closer to everyones elevation that alot of us run at.....as oppose to some of the bhq guys here running in like colorada or somewhere that's 6000+ in elevation. IMO I would start by draining all the fuel mix out of the tank completely, take the tank off and make sure no debris is in there also, pull both plugs and take a compression check, take the carbs off and pull bowls off them checking the floats and needles and seats, and jetting. Then pull the exhaust from the heads check for carbon build up and fix any exhaust leaks you have all the way back, and get your silencer repacked. Zwiser Posted January 8, 2012 Report Share Posted January 8, 2012 As mentioned above, his bike is stock with stock exhaust which equals no mods. He is new to banshees as stated above, so he prob doesn't know what jets are in his carbs let alone how to find out. I would put money on the packing in the silencers being shot if you still have stock exhaust. Check your plugs and see what they look like. theres no packing in stock silencers... take a pic of your bike at various angles and we should be able to tell you whats all done to it for the most part.
