is this bad?

Here is a short article, it effects performance. Prolonged running will effect the overall life of the motor, but it is not going to handgrenade it quickly. Its good that you caught it in time. Drag pipes without silencers are designed differently.

Thanks for the info!!

Heres another quick questions. I notice that my right pipe sticks out further out the the left one.. about a good half inch is this normal? Im new to the Banshee world so don't know a lot about them

My pipes are even. I have T-5's. The only thing that I could think of is if your brackets are somehow off. Most things are mass produced and variations to occur. Seems to me that if your front hangers were in different positions the silencer hangers would not line up. I guess maybe you could try fitting everything loose, then tightening everything up when they are where you want them.

Or.. Were you talking about the pipes coming out of the silencers? IE the tips?

Well at first i notice this looking at the back of the bike from the side. I could see that the right silencer did stick further out then the left. Then i got both silencers off and notice that the right pipe (when looking at the carbs) is out further then the left one also. So to me it looks like the right pipe does not sit exactly the same as the left, resulting in this half inch diference. Both pipes all well seated on the jugs so should be ok i guess.

well found this on the toomey website... they were probably installed wrong from the last owner.. I'll take a look tomorow

First you must bolt the mufflers to the long stingers. The long stingers are marked left and right with a stamped "L" and "R", stamped into the muffler mounting flange surface (tube side) (otherwise, you can tell the left one because it is about one inch longer than the right one.

I will take some pictures of mine and then you can see how they compare. Will post them shortly.

Silencer hanger

Silencer Side View

Expansion Chamber Hanger

Not sure if this helps. I can take pictures of anything else you might need. I just checked, my silencers are even in the rear and my rear hangers are dogboned so its possible if you loosen up your front hangers and do some adjustments they will both line up even.

Did you end up getting the silencers figured out? I just repacked my silencers and if you have any questions let me know, the Toomey site is kind of vague as to how they go together. The baffles aren't welded in like on some pipes they just slip in on each end, takes a little patience but eventually everything lines up and you can put the caps back on. Toomey also has the repack kits and baffles on their website, not to pricey either, that's where i ended up getting my parts.

well i just repacked them... ended using some fiberglass insulation i had laying arround in my garage, the white packing i bought ended riping in my hands... I did take a test drive and she sounds great now and i fix the silencer in the pic also.

So thanks everyone for the help!
