Hey guys, im new to the banshee world. Have had many 4 wheelers but not a banshee. Anyways, im going to look at one tonight and its all stock but the guy said the clutch is slipping. The bike looks great from the pics and I thought the price was good (1500 for an 2001). Is it a pain to change the clutches or should I pull the trigger.

welcome to the site dude!! if it was me i would go ahead and get it.. the clutch isnt hard to replace. get yourself a clutchcover gasket and a clutch kit and you will be enjoying it in no time. one thing i would consider is to do a compression test and check the front wheel bearings and rear axle and pivot bearings. maybe you could still talk him down some :)

I just talked to the guy and got him down a little more (1300). I dont have a compression tester so what is another good way to check it. He said the compression is good but who knows.

Its a far drive down there and hoping its worth it. If not, ill keep looking.

umm check compression, you can do the finger in plug, it will let you know if has compression, another is use your hand to push the kicker down, and see how much force it takes.

these are just so make sure it has compression, it will be hard to tell the difference between 110psi and 130psi doing this.

if it runs, it is worth 1300 imo.

Thanks, going to get it now. Will post pics later

Welcome to your new home :jesterlaugh:

Sounds like you may have found a great deal. One more thing to check. Make sure it's the same year as advertised. 8 out of 10 bikes I look at are not as advertised.

The 10th digit should be a number 5 The vin numbers are located by the left foot peg on the frame.

example of years

2000 model = y

2001 = 1

2002 = 2

2003 = 3

2004 = 4

2005 = 5

on & on

Good luck and we all love pictures. So get busy with the pics new bee :cheers:

Oh boy, :blink:

Now the fun begins. I hope you have deep pockets. Banshee modifications are extremely addictive. Just get busy posting & learning all you can & when you get to 50 posts start shopping. The used parts that are sold here daily are by far the best prices available.

Congrats,

Troy

thanks bro. My pockets are not deep at all lol. But i picked it up for 500 and needs some love. Going to start tearing it down this weekend and put a fresh top end in her. Does anyone know about the pipes on it. Do they come black or did someone try to paint them. And whats a good top end to put in.

T5s come 2 ways- either bare metal or chromed. So yours probably came bare and were painted black by the installer.First thing you need to buy is a service manual- I prefer the factory manual, but the Clymers is less expensive. As for the topend- pull the cylinders and send them to a reutable ATV machine shop to be measured and/or bored. Most people on here say to use a sponsor, but I prefer not to have to ship them and try to go with a local shop. Have the shop get you a WISECO top end kit and then bore it to fit.
