Need some help from the experts

I want to build an engine. Our riding is exclusively medium to long distance grade (woods) riding. I would like to concentrate on mid to top end power. Fuel economy is a consideration due to the distance of some of our rides. I will also be installing a RZ 350 gear set. Should I stay stock with porting, or upgrade to different cylinders / pistons / crank / head? What is the difference between the cheetah and the wampus?

Thanks,

Wheat

Depending on your size I would say a 4 mm stock cylinder or ported 350 mtr. With both these mtrs you could easily run stock carbs and retain great fuel economy.

With a good parts package and mtr setup you will have great power.

well if your talking the difference of a cheetah cub vs a wampus....there is no difference...in porting. They are the same port work cylinders......the difference is that the wampus IS a mono-block cylinder that is designed to LOOK stock. i will admit....if you either don't know banshees or if you know banshees but do not get down eye level with the motor....the odds of you being able to tell are slim to none. So the wampus is just a cheetah cub that looks like stock cylinders. More designed for street-racers.

my motor in my sig has really good mid to top power.. just do a stoke stroke with an (aggressive dune port) .. everyone will tell you different sponsors to go with, so do what i did call around and check pricing and figure out who you like. never heard one bad thing about jeff at fast (built my motor) .... or kevin at hjr... and if you are thinking stoke stroke isnt going to be enough do the 4mill from the start, because once you port for stoke stroke you cant switch to 4mill... you will need new cylinders to port for 4 mill..... my 2 cents... :P

A lot will depend on you budget for the build. If keeping decent fuel economy is a primary concern then a stock cylinder build is going to probably be the best option. A stroker crank will give you much broader useable torque curve if your budget will allow it. My recommendation is to call several builders and use the one you feel most comfortable with.
