What next help

Hi I have a stock stroke banshee with a dune port, t5 pipes, plus 4 timing, stock reeds and carbs, coolhead 21cc domes I'm at sea level. I have 340 mains and my bike has been dyno tuned plugs are tan. I have a friend with a honda 450r with the Honda racing cam, port work, lowering kit, dyna cdi. As of right now we raced all day on asphalt and in the dirt we are about dead even every race. We raced from a roll alot also to take as much driver era out of it as possible. So I'm wondering would say 35 mm carbs or Cpi pipes be the next big increase or maybe vf3 reeds. I would like to be able to put a couple of bike lengths on the 450r. If anyone knows what will make the difference please let me know.. I just had the motor rebuilt so I do not want to have to go back into the engine to make it a stroker. I know alot people say stock carbs are good with a stock stroke and some say t5 pipes are good also. So I would like to know if anyone has seen a big difference with carbs or cpi pipes on a stock stroke bike with port work thanks..

Hp increase with the Vforce reeds would probably be about 2 , increase with bigger carbs would probably be 2-3 and the CPIs over the T-5s would probably be about 3-6 depending on how your motor is built but they may be a poor choice if you trail ride much or play on your bike much or jump and trail ride. Without spending much money you could get your stock carbs bored to 28mm and maybe bump your timing up 1 degree. I always ran 5 degrees on 350s with no problems. If you bump the timing up it will lean it out a bit and will need a couple jet sizes larger mainjet.

 

A honda 450 with all that stuff is no slouch really and the lowering kit makes that bike much quicker. If you lowered your banshee you will holeshot much better than stock. A ported, HRC cam, piped, filter 450R is a fast bike.

Thank you for your reply. My friends 450r is really quick I really underestimated the 450r. If I am even with him now and I add vforce reeds 35mm carbs and cpi pipes. Are we just talking about a bike length more are will it be worth doing as in maybe pull him 2 to 3 lengths.

bump for me someone has to know how much of a difference the mods would make. a little or alot.....

I did call thank you there are so many factors its hard to pin point one. Most people I have talked to seem to think since the 18 inch tire puts such a little foot print on the ground that I am just spinning. So trying to counter it with the big front tooth may not have worked to full advantage. Then alot of people say I need the right supporting mods like bigger carbs and the right pipes. To me with the setup I have I just can't believe we are even from a roll. I guess the little tires really are not working very well even with higher gearing.

If you want to make full use of your motor, you got to lower and extend your swing arm or get a wheely bar.
