2004LEBanshee
Doing a re build and tore the clutch apart to find the fingers have grooves on them. They arent too bad but I can feel them when I toutch them. How much is too much. I assume any grooving and the basket needs replaced. This was a Magnum basket from Fast. How long do billet baskets typicaly last? This one was around 5 years old. Thanks for the opinions.
Strm Trpr
Nothing wrong with taking a file to the fingers to smooth things out.

Im gonna guess that if its worn to the point your worried or asking, the coating is long gone already
bbcmudtruck
Unless its deeply grooved, I'd leave it alone. Ive seen guys file the stock baskets, but never seen anyone file a billet basket. I would worry about grooving it at a wrong angle or fucking up the fingers. I really like the quality of the Mattoon billet basket. It comes with a real heavy duty backing plate and bigger plate screws too. its also very reasonably priced. FASTOYS
2004lebanshee, give us a call as i'd like to know what your clutch setup was and how many hours are on it. We have never had any trouble with the Magnum baskets, especially when used with our clutch setup.
87sheerips
Yea, I toasted my magnum basket in 3 years. I filed the grooves to get me by for the last trip this year.... its just a dune port 350 motor with FAST clutch fiber setup. I do beat the shit out of it tho. Jeff, Im sure Magnum would not support a warranty on a clutch basket? Especially after 3 years of abuse? I already got a replacement to install, but I was really curious as to why mine was grooved so badly and if they would in fact replace it. -JD
