Hi Guys,

Newb here, with a question.

I bought a 06 banshee recently and been reading and searching on the net trying to find/learn as much as I could. But the jetting/carbs and pipes are like a black art to me. From what I can tell the bike has FMF powercore2 silencers with phatty2 headers. Stock air filter, with holes cut into the lid. The bike does tend to hesitate under wot. And the longer I ride it the worse it gets.

Question is what would be the correct jetting and 2s mix solution for this bike?

Im at 1500ft elevation.

Thanks!

If you just got the banshee here is a few things most will recomend to do.

Do a leak down test make sure there's no air leaks so your not chasing a non existent carb issue.

Compression test, that way you know what your working with and ensure your engine top end is good.

Always good practice to do that on a new to you used bike you just got even before buying. or on a rebuild...

I would also recommend just taking apart the carbs come back and tell us what jets are in there at the same time clean them thoroughly.

Take one off at a time if you dont want to mix anything up.

Snap some pics of the bike.. odds are some guys will be able to identify your parts easly.

most people will premix the banshee anywhere between

32 to 1 up to 40 to 1. then you got the odd jo blo running it leaner up to 50 to 1... which a lot of people will not recomend.

The book calls for 32 to 1. So thats what Im sticking around with personally. I may run it a touch leaner but I always stick between 32 and 40 to 1.

MOST of the time a hesitation under wot means its rich.

thanks for the reply... since I made the post I spend a long time reading the stickys. Hat off to this link. http://www.dfn.com/agservices/elecfaq.html

I did strip the carbs and cleaned them, but once fitted them back I started the bike and heard a strage noise coming from the flywheel like something was lose behind the cover... I took everything apart and yep, turned out the pickup coil was just dangling next to the flywheel by the wires... the two mouting skrews were not only lose but broke off the moutings they skrew into the stator plate. (which means it leaned against the flywheel and got smashed) At this piont I felt like shit...

But this also means I can now invest in a adjustable plate and new stator with pickup coil from rickstator.

Other than that I bout a new kickstarter and replaced the clutchcable, plugs, trans oil and cleaned the filter.
