damian90
Hey guys, just joined and just bought a 2005 yamaha banshee off a guy here in Australia. He races them and stuff and had 5 that were pretty done up. Mine looks great and has heaps of extras including a top and bottom rebuild and been bored out to 400cc. Im new to bikes and especially quads and have noticed a few things on my banshee. First off, the coolant seems to run out real quick. Looks to me like its coming out of the overflow, have been told might be head gasket or could be because of my blown o-rings? Secondly, where can i find a free service manual for download? need to check what oil i should run and etc (what oil do you guys run?). But yeah, thats that, hope you guys can help me out and i will post pics of it later. cheers Damian

I couldnt find a free download anywhere when i was looking. Just buy one from amazon or somewhere. They are cheap enough. Congrats on the new banshee. good luck! thomas h.
O rings are on aftermarket heads. If you can post an engine pic we can I. D. The setup for you. Also do a compression test to tell what type of gas to run. I run 85 gearsaver belray in the trans. And 35:1 in gas. Welcome to BHQ. And congrats on the best quad ever made. Some one will mention to you to search for the answers but iPhone ppl can't so you will have to use google to do it
rocky_mtn_yamaha
Here's a link to the manual in my library. I don't know if it covers your year, but anythings better than nothing. I also have a Clymer that came with my quad when I bought it, that covers 86-06 so, let me know if you need anything specific to your year. Merry Christmas. http://www.mediafire.com/?i671pubbiclcnk5 Password : YFZ350
rocky_mtn_yamaha
O yeah, I have a manual library over 100 gigs of dirtbike/atv/small engine/marine service manuals. damian90
cheers guys, saw some pretty cheap manuals off ebay so probs will get it from there. Does anyone have any advice on what to do about the coolant leak?
Jereme6655
if your bike is leaking coolant while its running and not while its shut off.......then its a problem with a blown gasket somewhere inside your bike as the compression is pressurizing the coolant passages and shouldn't be. damian90
my mates who know about more bikes than me said they checked the head gasket and that it was ok. Have checked the hoses around and have found a few places where there is a little wetness, so it might be a tear or hole somewhere in the hose. Also, the guy i bought it off had an air filter but it had like holes in the bottom of it, so it could fit in the air box, since the air box has like little prongs, so im guessing he needed to make the holes on the air filter in order to make it fit into the air box? Does anyone have a picture of an OEM air filter, not sure if i want holes in mine.
bansheeinoz
hey mate, welcome to the best banshee site on the net. sorry i cannot help you with the coolant leak but someone here will help you. I am bit of a neeb to Banshees also although i have had all sorts of bikes and the Banshees are a piece of piss to work on, and the most fucken fun you can have with your pants on the best advise I can give is get a Clymers manual and if you need any used parts hit up nyuk a member here. If you need new parts hit up a site sponsor and they will hook you up, even with freight you will be miles ahead of buying the parts in Australia. I have used FAST and Nyuk and they are both great to deal with. where abouts in Australia are you from?

You definitively do not want holes in the air filter, nothing will blow your motor quicker than sand and dust getting into it. Just get a new filter, cheap insurance!! Hey mate, im from Brisbane in Queensland Were there holes in the air filter or air box? the holes are in the air filter itself, becasue its not OEM, i think the filter didnt have the proper holes to make it fit properly, so he made some so the prongs from the air box could go into it and thus fit. can someone link me to where to buy and OEM air filter (ebay) or how they should look like?
