Rustynail
That boost bottle does nothing for hp and can cause your intake boots to crack...someone on here can hook you up with a factory tube to replace it...all you can really do is to take the carbs and reeds off and see if the intakes of the cylinders have been ported. Does it have an aftermarket head with interchangable domes?

rocky_mtn_yamaha
Congrats on the score. I just swooped up a 2000 that was advertised as a 2001 on craigslist, but after checking the VIN its definately a 2000. Scored mine for $700 but its not running and has a wasted connecting rod bearing. Anyhow, this site is awesome and full of helpful cool ass people. I'm sure you'll love the new bike bud. Jereme6655
to check compression........put in your compression checker into one of the spark plug holes (you should look to ensure that the adaptor that screws into the hole is the same length as the threaded section on the spark plug) then with the ignition OFF and the bke in neutral..... hold the throttle WIDE open....and kick the motor over and over until the needle on the compression guage stops climbing.... 06specialedition
Welcome to BHQ! Looks like a good find. There are some sweet deals here in Utah for sure. You going to be riding it at Little Sahara/Sand Mountain, UT? What main jets are in there now? With just pipes and filters out here, I would start at 260-270's and go from there. Will you be riding it this winter, or just a summer bike?
